Spread the Love – April 2017

While I was struck with extreme bad luck during the beginning of the year due to a few models who had wasted my time, Boon Hui helped me when I was in need of someone to test playing with my new white backdrop. We had a “last minute” shoot and it helped me to test the limitation of my equipment to prepare me for an important shoot with Joy.

After the shoot with Joy, she gave me a good treat. I felt guilty for I was not someone who would appreciate good food and dining at an expensive restaurant was really a waste of money.

There was a volleyball game in NUS new town. Jingjie gave me and others a lift over at Harbourfront Centre after our lunch at MacDonald’s. After that, we went to Tampines and he was the driver who also sent me home. Anyway, Jingjie was the coordinator for the game and it was very kind of him to help to arrange with us even though he was very busy with work.

My younger brother arranged for a Mother’s Day dinner. He managed to get discount through an application and we got to enjoy expensive Indonesian food at low price at the new Tanjong Pagar Centre.

I went over to Marsiling twice to help to take care of Luckie who had his third slip disc problem. During the first stay, my elder brother helped me to fix the tablet he had passed to me much earlier – the WiFi was down after doing windows update. During the second trip, he tried to fix my trolley’s wheels but realised the ball-bearings were spoiled. Then, he found out the model number so that I could get new pieces online.

Spread the Love – March 2017

I got a dinner date with Guoxin and appreciated that he was one of my old good friends who would contact me to meet up once in a while. He also showed excess concern about my progress in photography.

I forgot to book a timeslot for my haircut and my hairdresser kindly slotted me in. Although it was just for a one-day reservist that nobody would bother about my hair, I still wanted to maintain a good image.

During the one-day reservist, Terry gave me a lift from Yishun MRT to Chongpang camp and then to Punggol MRT after that. He had finally bought his car since talking about it during the first time we had reservist together

Spread the Love – November 2016

Weitat organised two volleyball games at Yusok Ishak Secondary school and one at OCBC Arena, which was booked by Jelly. We had late supper after the first game and Weitat specially instructed Steven to give me a lift home. Steven could have taken the PIE route home, which was much faster. After the second game, we had dinner at Bukit Gombak’s coffee shop. In order not to let “blackbean” uncle and auntie treat, I ordered my food from the western food stall instead of the seafood stall. However, SCDF uncle footed the bill for our drinks. For both the last games, Bernard gave me a lift home using Jingjie’s car as Jingjie was not in Singapore.

The process of doing photoshoot with Jasmine Tan was glad not because I was shooting a cute girl but because she was one of the rare models who could turn up on time for a 7am shoot. She was very cooperative and we managed to get many good photographs.

During the one-day reservist at Yishun Safra, Teck Hui met up with me to walk over. Then, Fabian gave me and Terry a lift to the nearest MRT station.

For the photoshoot with Wanling, Gilbert was the driver to send Yuko and I over to Wanling’s house. Candy played a good host, drove me to package dinner back and sent us to the shooting location and then sent us home.

For the photoshoot with Rouying, Guoxin was my best assistant ever. He helped me to carry my equipment, buy drinks for all of us on his own initiative, shine light for my camera to focus and even paid for the cab after the shoot.

In total, Yuko took up three shoots with me and I was very glad that she could use her talent to aid me in creating the wonderful work.

Gilbert booked a staycation at The Amara Sanctuary Resort and chauffeured both Wanling and I to and from our houses. He also paid a larger portion for the hotel fee. Lunch was on Gilbert and dinner was on Wanling.

Spread the Love – October 2016

I had a shoot with Beverley at Coney Island in the early morning. Gilbert gave us a lift over, helped in carrying my equipment and directed Beverley. He sacrificed his skin and blood to feed the mosquitoes and sandflies.

I had a beach volleyball game with my gang. Jingjie gave me a lift from Vivocity and Weitat sent me home after dinner.

Thiam Huat met me up at Tanjong Pagar for dinner. After that, we chilled up at Essen and he gave me two rounds of treat to drinks. We chatted till late and he had to catch a cab home.

My elder brother came to stayover with Luckie since my sister-in-law went overseas. During his stay, he tried to solve problems and passed me a good earpiece.

During my shoot with Dr Joy at her son’s birthday party, she treated me as a friend and not just a photographer. I was very touched by her kind gesture. During the entire evening, she kept asking me to eat. It was the first time I got to try out chicken from Jollibee.

I was so busy that I almost forgot it was the last public holiday that Tanjong Pagar Railway Station would be opened for visitors before closing down for integration work with the new MRT station. Just hours before the opening hour, I contacted Ahpa and Yoyo, who agreed to go down with me on such late notice – they reached home only after midnight. Yoyo had tried to accommodate to the choice of clothes that I wanted; discussion with both of them was much easier than many model-wannabes who had approached me. I was glad the simple shoot with Yoyo turned out quite well.

Spread the Love – July 2016

Letian organised a baby shower his newborn and invited Tze Khit, Daoxiong and I. After that, Tze Khit gave me a lift to the nearest MRT even though he was running late for his appointment.

Gilbert brought me to the Fitness First gym at 100AM again. He managed to push me to do some real workout with the gym equipment and then a swim at the pool.

Yaozhong spent quite some time to go through computer’s component at Sim Lim Square, creating a shopping list for my new system. Not every friend would spend the effort and time when he was busy with his life.

I had a photoshoot with Jolene at Gold’s Gym The Strategy. I was glad that Bobby had suggested the outlet or otherwise, I might have used one of the two outlets in Tanjong Pagar, which was much smaller and the result would not be so good. Jolene was one of the best models I had worked with in terms of her attitude and intelligent. I was mesmerized by her appreciation for every single thing I did and said.

Weitat organised three volleyball games at Yusof Ishak Secondary School. Even though he had grumbled about the tedious job, he sacrificed himself, knowing nobody else could do better than him due to his connection with all the small groups of players. For the first game, Weitat had to rush off immediately as he had a plane to catch and Jingjie gave me a lift at Clementi MRT station after our supper. I was glad that he had opened out and shared some of his troubles with me. However, I had to rush off to catch my last train and thus could not accompany him longer at the car park to chat. Anyway, “black bean” uncle and auntie gave us a treat for the drinks again. For the next two volleyball games, Weitat gave me a lift home as usual and I didn’t stop him for the last trains were probably gone.

After Shuh broke up with me, Olivia and Stephanie gave me some cooling time before contacting me about a week later to show me concern. It was very sweet of them.

Justine was another sweet angel who had been texting me to show her concern after I posted any new Facebook status. She could be blunt and fierce, but she always spoke with a kind intention.

I visited Wanling at her place and she cooked lunch for both of us. Candy gave me a lift to the MRT station in the evening. A week later, Gilbert and I went over as well and we had a more splendid dinner.

Spread the Love – May 2016

During the interior shoot with Rashi, her mum served me with treats. It was a very kind gesture.

I had a portrait shoot session with Marjorie and I was glad that she trusted me with the planning and she was even generous enough to engage a professional hair and makeup artist as well. I appreciated such clients for their generosity and their drive to get better photographs.

When my sister-in-law informed us of Luckie’s second operation within less than two months for his second slip disc problem, I thought she was joking. Since they had already poured in 10 grand of fund for his first surgery, I did not expect them to save him for the second time. They were actually planning to have a baby this year but they gave up since their saving was drained. Some people would say that giving birth in Singapore was not expensive but they did not factor in many small details. Most importantly, if you were to give birth to a child and not able to supply him/her with the necessities to equip them for the future, I would rather you give up the thought of having a baby just for the sake of having one.

I met my best client ever. She was Angie who helped people to design picture frames that fit the interior. Her clients consisted of many expats and she was definitely very wealthy. She was elegant, energetic, inspiring, kind, generous, appreciating and helpful. During my first shoot with her, she suddenly enlightened me on a wrong use of word for one of my lengthy worded portrait photoshoot albums. I supposed she had gone through my entire website and she told me she appreciated my writing and I supposed she could tell my sincerity from my writing.

My volleyball gang and I had a beach volleyball outing on one of the Sundays and Tze Khit was finally able to join us. He drove over to my place to pick me up and thus saving me a lot of trouble even though Weitat and Jingjie would definitely try to pick me up near Vivocity as well. I was still owing lots of conveniency to the drivers at this point of time and at times, I felt useless.

Spread the Love – April 2016

While babysitting Luckie over my elder brother’s house during weekdays, I was well taken care of with food stocking up inside the refrigerator and cupboard for lunch. My elder brother bought dinner most of the time.

Letian had a housewarming gathering for Tze Khit, Daoxiong and I. After that, Tze Khit gave me a ride home in his convertible car from Punggol even though he could have gone straight home.

I finally had a meet-up with David and he gave me a coffee treat.

Spread the Love – February 2016

After my elder brother moved to his new house, he took along most of the essential stuff but left many things behind. Somehow, my mum moved into the room almost immediately together with some of her belonging. I couldn’t stand the mess and it was actually very dusty. Therefore, I tried to pack the stuffs and put them into boxes and plastic bags. Then, Gilbert gave me a lift over to Marsiling.

I had a one-day low key reservist. It was, in fact, more of a national education tour. We were ferried to the city area and had to walk under the torching sun to complete some tasks. As usual, Fabian was the hero who picked Terry and I up from the nearest MRT station and dropped us at Hougang MRT after the end of the ICT.

On the day of my elder brother’s housewarming for a few close relatives, we had dinner at a nearby coffee shop. “We” ordered some expensive seafood dishes and my uncle paid for the meal. It was a guilty meal. I simply don’t have a stomach to fill any expensive food and I didn’t like any food with shell or tiny bones.

Spread the Love – February 2015

Weitat had always played a role more than good friend. I tried not to repeat the same type of kindness too often but he was making me feel guilty. On the first day of February 2015, we had our usual Sunday beach volleyball game. Instead of going to nearby places like Vivocity or even Queensway for dinner, we went to Jurong West for Mookata. After that, he sent me home from the West to Central even though he was staying in Clementi. I guessed everyone was already tired after the volleyball game and he was going to be more exhausted since he needed to drive.

On the last day of February, we had a gathering with Mingfa at West Coast Plaza. After that, we went to Sunsetway for desert. Weitat planned to send Jingjie home so that Jingjie could pick his car up to send Gin home to Bukit Gombak and Weitat would send me home after that. On the way, my brain was exploding for I thought I could never repay him for his kindness, although he never expected anything in return. He had no obligation to be so nice. While we were on the way, Gin “saved” me by speaking up for Weitat to just drop both of us at Clementi MRT instead of troubling both Weitat and Jingjie. It was quite overboard to make the two drivers to send us home from their “home” when we were so near the MRT station, which was still in operation.

Although I really hate travelling on the “world class” public transport, I should not have my comfort and convenience at his tiredness. Although the “affordable” and “cheap” public transport fee is ridiculous, I’m sure Weitat’s petrol fee would cost more for the double distance (to and fro). Although Singapore is such a fine country, there are sure body odor on the train. Although Singapore’s education system is known (from mainstream news) to be excellent, probably half of the people (talents) have not gone through the same school system to be gracious inside the train. I really hate taking public transport.

My gang of volleyball friends have endlessly demonstrated kindness. Drivers like Mingfa, Wilson, Tze Khit, Jingkun, Kachua and Weitat have been teaching me how good it would be to send friends home. Of course, Weitat is the extreme of all the car owners as he can make extreme detouring to give me the convenience even when public transport is still in operation. I would like to be nice and be appreciated but having a car is never for poor and average people.

Among all my models, Alessandra Wong was the first to “date” me out. It was a coffee chill up when she was near my place and followed by a street photography session for Thaipusam. If it was not her, I would not have forced myself to get up so early to capture the Thaipusam photos. Besides, I was not the kind of person who would go out alone. That was also the period of time when I kept wondering how many models were really treating me as friend instead of just using me to get them quality photos.

I troubled auntie Chwee Lian again for a photoshoot for Vanessa and Jiamin because we planned to do it at the Skybridge of Pinnacle@Duxton. Therefore, I went to borrow the access cards from her. Eventually, Vanessa was sick and thus the shoot was called off. When I went over to return the three access cards, I rang her up instead of just slipping the cards under the door. It was a good intention to meet her up to thank her personally but she was actually having her nap at around 6 plus in the evening. Needless to say, she did not get pissed off.

During Chinese New Year, My uncle and his wife invited the entire Chan family over for reunion dinner as usual. They were never stingy with all the food, drinks and snacks. The effort to organise and then clean up the mess was the key thing. I was speechless over what they had done.

Finally, Met up with Jenrine

[Tuesday, 4 January, 2011]

I had some discussion with my younger brother and eventually I went to sleep at 2.30am. Failing to doze off, I joined my elder brother. I woke up after 10am and went to the office.

Mike and I had our lunch at the second storey of Tanjong Pagar. He was then harassed by the car company Eazi Car Rental because they insisted him to pay the money for the wear and tear car battery. He got pissed off for the first time in front of me but I thought his temper was much better than mine.

We walked back to office and discussed over how Singapore’s review website had sided companies, probably because they were paying money for advertisements all that. There was no honest review site that allowed users to post bad reviews without being moderated by the companies. Therefore, a nasty company could easily get lots of fake good reviews on Singapore review websites. We even suspected that most of the so-called good reviews were written by the product or service companies themselves.

I had a chat with Vanessa finally after she commented on my Facebook. She thought I was doing great with an office space but I debated with her that it was Mike’s success because I did not get to contribute any amount of money. However, the conversation was short lived as usual because she was busier than me.

Mike left the office earlier to settle stuffs. I left during the evening to The Cathay’s Starbucks. Along the way, I saw that most of the shops at MacDonald’s House building were closed. Though the days when I was rushing projects with Soon Siong and the university gang at Starbucks was tough but I really missed them a lot. I had a cup of frappuccino while I tried to rush some work for the tuition agency, working on a new page regarding facebook.

It was not long before I went over to Plaza Singapura to meet up with Jenrine at the Long John’s Silver for dinner. I had quite a long chat with her over there, telling her the situation of my site. We went over to The Cathay to meet up with her boyfriend and I treated them for the movie.

Back at home, I continued with my work and at times when I wanted to ask my younger brother stuffs, he was too busy.
