Third Day of Course

[Friday, 30 March, 2007]

I was nodding really badly that I went to the bed and dozed off for some minutes before my mum arrived home. It was due to my work consciousness that I waked up in no time to continue with updating my sites. My brother was playing Condition Zero and I wanted so much to join in the game but the weight of money was higher. There was a little chat with Jianhao through MSN at the same time. I got too carried over by work due to the fact of the “dropping shares price” and eventually went to bed only at 6am and it took me quite some time to doze off with my plentiful thoughts mind.

I was trying to sleep for as long as possible for I had to attend the course at night. Mingfa waked me up at around 2pm eventually and he dropped by my house soon as he was at Bugis. There were some sensitive discussions before he left at around 4pm and I continued with my work. Kaelyn called me to look for some information online.

Self-made versus pre-made

When I was on my way to the office, I realised I had forgotten to bring my name tag. Upon reaching my destination, I started off checking new quotation from Kaelyn, which was with my Ou Xiang, and they did not invite me along. Then, I typed out my name using the office’s computer and printed it out immediately. I went back to the receptionist area’s sofa and started folding the big A4 size paper. Since it was around 6pm, Regina had left and thus I had nobody to chat with. Surprisingly, Winnie walked past and then she helped me to get some stuffs to complete my name tag.

Afterwards, I got to chat with Christopher. He was a manager from another team who I met earlier on at the computer area. He looked a bit like James Tan but seemed to be more concern about me. He gave me advices.

I was happy when one of the staffs for the course remembered my name so well. She was not a babe, but I really liked the feeling of being appreciated and recognised; I was always very early there for the course, which earned me the respect somehow.

Since Mingfa was not there, I had to sit alone until the pest came over to borrow pen from me and gladly shifted his stuffs over and that was my nightmare of the night. Apart from he was irritating; I could not trust him at all to ask about Kelly when he seemed to be together with one bastard of my team during a meeting which was months ago when Kelly was still around. Throughout the lesson, I was sleepy and could not concentrate.

I went to take bus 145 again instead of bus 167 or 196 for the route I preferred, which could give me some memories. There was this girl looking quite pleasant waiting down there and the bus arrived soon. Somehow she was so weird like as if she felt being looked at; when there were available seats behind, she chose to sit behind the bus captain. It was a turn off to see her alighting at the same stop as me but I purposely took another way home, which was of same distance.

My mum helped me to order fried rice to be delivered to my house and that was my very late dinner. At least, I was able to catch my favourite channel 8 China show “Zou Xiang Gong He” for the night.

Training at Clementi ITE

[Thursday, 29 March, 2007]

I started this day with a bit of nodding but the television kept me awake while updating my sites. Luckily for my mum went into the room to watch it, such that she was able to leave me in peace to concentrate more on my work. My sleeping clock worsened once again and I went to bed at 7am.

I waked up at around 2pm. Later, I gave a call to my brother’s friend who wanted to purchase a house. I started calling Anqi who did not pick up the calls and my numerous efforts went in vain. Xinyi and Mingli could not make it for the volleyball session.

I left my house lazily, taking the crowded train at around 6.30pm. A primary school boy irritated me so much by coughing right at me many times despite staring at him. He had no basic manner at all to cover up his mouth, which put his school down, but unfortunately I was not able to see his badge clearly.

I went to the cake shop to get a pizza bun, which was a wrong choice. It got my hands in a mess for the bottom sticked tightly to the alumina paper and the dissatisfaction caused a little uncomfortable to my chest somehow.

I reached Clementi ITE after 7pm and Mingfa’s cab happened to arrive at the same time. We were only fated to train with eight persons. It was totally not my digging day. It was probably due to sleeping late that I could not concentrate at all. Free spike was much better. We had some training and at the end, we played four versus four. We all agreed that training and playing among ourselves was much better than fooling around with those attitude outsiders.

Dinner was at the Clementi’s coffee shop. Jingkun was so considerate that he got Weitat and Kok Chiang to leave Clementi ITE earlier and allowed Mingfa and I to take Wilson’s car for the RX8 could only ferry three passengers. Since it was already ten plus, the stall did not want to take order for chicken chop anymore and I bought half spring chicken, which was quite satisfying at four bucks. Jianhao and his girlfriend joined us soon.

I was lucky that Wilson was going down to Clarke Quay to meet up with his friends that he sent me home once again. Since both of us were already tired, we did not talk much until end of the journey.

It was nearly 12am and I met my elder brother at the lift. I could only catch the last few minutes of my “Zou Xiang Gong He” on channel 8.

Second Day of Course

[Wednesday, 28 March, 2007]

Since I reached home late, work piled up once again. It was really exciting to see the “stock market” rose and that explained why I persisted until 6.30am.

I had a weird and sad dream, which seemed so real that I waked up with my chest feeling uncomfortable. Ruoci stopped the story by calling me and telling me she could not make it for volleyball for the next day.

Justus heard my brother and his girlfriend came home but I was the unlucky one that he came over to find. He came for Chinese homework this time and I was having my lunch at 2pm, quite irritated that he did nothing before coming over to “seek” help. I was quite in a rush to go back to office to settle stuffs.

It started to rain. I was quite lucky that the large number of pages of homework from Justus was done faster than expected. I made phone call to Winnie and was glad that she had settled some of the problems and thus I needed not rush back to office so early.

I was quite unlucky this time that I waited very long for the bus to arrive. I was perspiring then. After reaching office, I started filling up the documents at the sofa while chatting with Regina. Later, I got to talk to Winnie and was satisfied that everything was under control. However, I had to attend to the latest two JTC cases, which kept me busy till the arrival of Mingfa and the lecturers.

The second day of the course was tiring. The contents were quite dry and I was lack of sleep. We were released a bit late and at first we wanted to go for dinner together but the hawker centre seemed quite empty and we decided to go home.

I cooked a bowl of instant noodle while beginning to update my website.

Swim, Library, Volleyball and Dinner

[Tuesday, 27 March, 2007]

I was really trying to sleep early but the never ending work kept me occupied till 4.30am again. I was not even eighty per cent efficient but at least I was really doing work.

I set my alarm clocks to sound at 8am to start working but I could not get up until Gilbert sent me a message at around 10am that he would be late. I quickly packed up and even went for toilet meeting before leaving my house. I saw babe on the train, which I should not elaborate more since Ou Xiang told me not to.

I was late for nearly half an hour while Gilbert was actually on time, which was at 1051h. The weird timing was entirely Gilbert’s fault. We were supposed to meet at 1030h, which I thought was very early and thus I told him 11am; besides, it was easier to remember as well. Since the actual plan was to go to the library and I suggested swimming as well and that we decided to swim first, we did not want to meet up too late. Gilbert then suggested 1052h on purpose, such that it was more difficult to be remembered and I played on with him to set it at 1051h.

It was the first time I went to Bukit Batok swimming complex, though I had seen it during the previous trip with Kaven to view the flats nearby. It was for my convenience as I had volleyball at Bukit Batok ITE during evening. Anyway, the pool looked new and nice. There were many children having lessons at the baby pool and the Olympic pool’s lanes were all taken up. We managed to squeeze some spaces at the extreme side of the pool.

There were two girls who came almost same time as us and it was not my fault for paying attention to them because one of the girls wore red swimming suit, which was far too striking. I was too busy chatting with Gilbert to look at them though. Actually I could not even see them clearly without spectacle. Ou Xiang told me I should not say these things out and indeed I should keep everything as secrets like all the other “super decent” guys had been doing.

Frankly speaking, which guy does not look at pretty babes and which girl does not look at cute guys? The differences between other guys and me are that I glance with respect and to kill boredom, but I never approach the babes; whereas other guys stare with fantasizing scenes in their imaginative brains and go for the girls without hesitation. Another difference is that I dare to admit.

It was not a very physically swim this time for Gilbert was busy chatting with me. Sometimes it was impossible for me to open my mouth when he was too engrossed into telling his stories. He kept complaining about tiredness whenever we finished a lane. Since I did not want to drain myself up, we swam only around ten lanes and got up at 1315h. After washing up, Gilbert told me to try putting some jar, which I regretted later.

We went to the foodcourt for our lunch and my dearest sister did not reply my SMS nor pick up my call, and I knew she was still asleep. Kailin had taken her lunch as well and not going to join us anymore.

After lunch, we went to the community library and camped there for quite some time. I was looking at a digital photography magazine but started nodding my head. I was probably lacked of sleep, exhausted and maybe dehydrated that I felt so sleepy. Gilbert had a fruitful trip there for he finished reading a photography magazine, together with one which taught him how to exercise to slim down.

Since Mingfa had called me earlier to inform me about changing of venue back to Clementi ITE for volleyball, I took bus 106 to Clementi directly. A couple took the seats in front of me and started to behave a bit intimately, which was a flaw to the peaceful journey. When I reached there, I was quite turned off to see many cars in the carpark. I took a peep into the hall and realised the event was still on and that I knew I was going to be alone for the next few hours from 4.30pm to 7pm. I camped at the canteen and met a taxi driver who was extremely noisy. He started telling me stories about Milo and Ovaltine, and Pepsi and Coca Cola, which left question marks in my mind.

When peace regained, I continued with my writing of “Lonestar” at a corner where the only switched fan was located at. My back was aching since sitting down at the library and by then, I was so exhausted and dozed off on the table. A lady walked past me and since I was very sensitive to movement around me, I woke up immediately. After hearing her chat with some other ITE students of the older ages, I went to the carpark and realised Weitat had arrived with Mingfa, Jingkun and Junyang.

We went into the hall and were quite lazy about moving the tables and computers to the sides since we had to arrange them back at the end of the day. We started moving after some discussion and made the hall ready in no time.

We had a little training among ourselves before the matches started. Since Wilson was late and had not warmed up, I needed not play as libero for the first game. I did not treasure my chances to spike properly given the bad luck that Mingfa did not give me balls to my liking. However, we did thrash the opponents.

I played as libero in the second game and we managed to thrash them once again. Nevertheless, we had to give up the court because they had ladies with them and we had to give them the chance to play among themselves.

Our third game stirred up my aggressiveness when one of the tall opponents, a guy wearing spectacle and stripped shirt, continued to kick the ball back to us whenever we gained any point. The ex national player played like shit somehow and soon, followed the bastard’s style of passing us the ball. Another tattooed asshole joined in their unsportsmanship treating of opponents. There were times when they kicked or threw the ball over, which almost hit our heads and they did not seem to care at all. When they were playing against themselves, they showed different attitude. It was such a shame on them for they obviously played volleyball much longer than us but they did not even show themselves respect by simply rolling the ball over. no matter how much glory the ex national player had achieved in the past, it reflected so badly on him this day, so surprisingly, and he certainly had dumped my respect for him.

In the last game, Jingkun gave me a chance to play as spiker again since he knew I would be bored to play libero all the while. Weitat jolly well exchanged roles with me. I was so furious with the three monkeys’ ungentlemanly attitude that given a chance at number four, when the ball was near the net and I was too short to make a normal good spike, I slammed my knuckles down and the impact on the ex national player was marvellous. It was a skill I learnt when I sprained my finger so badly at CCHSM years ago that I realised I was better at using knuckles for spiking instead of palm. Afterwards, Mingfa gave me a short ball at the centre and the ex national player was blocking right in front of me but I purposely hit the ball sideway, which gave a touch out. We won the match by close margin due to careless mistakes but everyone’s spiking was very impressive especially Wilson’s.

After rearranging all the furniture and computers, we went to take our bath. Weitat drove Junyang home and Jingkun followed him. Jianhao had his girlfriend to accompany while I took Wilson’s RX8 together with Mingfa. Just as Mingfa was locking the main gate, Wilson and I saw Jianhao stopping in front of the green light with a Mercedes cab behind waiting to do the right turn. Surprisingly, the cab’s driver did not horn Jianhao. We joined in the queue but the next green light put Wilson into shame for Jianhao stopped in the middle of the road with the cab behind, leaving no space for the RX8 which almost banged into the tail of the cab. Half of the expensive sports car was exposed to the extreme right lane of the left direction moving vehicles, such that oncoming vehicles had to slow down to switch from the right lan
e to the middle lane. We were at the same time feeling very impressive with the patience of the cab driver and suddenly Jianhao took off and both the cab and RX8 jolly well followed. Mingfa made a call to Jianhao and he explained that it was red light and that was why he stopped the car just now. However, his taking off before the green light appeared confused us. In fact, the traffic light there was quite weirdly designed.

We went to Bukit Timah for dinner. This time, we went to the Hong Kong shop, which was named Café 13. Weitat soon arrived with Jingkun while we were taking our orders. I ordered fish and chips and the serving was pathetically small and worse than Ngee Ann Polytechnic canteen 3’s one; the taste was very unsatisfying, with the tasteless French fries. I had to shake so much to get the bottle of almost finished chilli sauce to land on part of the plate. The milk tea was not as good as Ah Mei Kaya Toast’s one.

Jingkun realised he had ordered a bowl of instant noodle. Wilson’s curry rice was a small serving. The rest of the dishes did not look appetizing. Both cups of barley drinks were full of coffee’s smell. It was definitely our first and last visit to the shop.

Luckily for Wilson was dropping by my house that Weitat did not need to take the trouble to send me all the way home. I enjoyed chatting with Wilson for the intelligence talks. He remembered the way to my house so well, which was also very impressive.

Though Wilson’s buying of the car is a wrong move for he has restricted his life so much with the monthly instalments, at least he has a baby for himself. Weitat, using his dad’s car, is always sending people home despite at late hours when he is already tired. Mingfa is already planning to buy a car by this year if he were to pass his driving test, whereas Jingkun is going to get a van after ORD. All of them are moving on so well with their lives and I am or would owe them favour now or in future. I wonder when would be the day I own a car and send them home after a tiring night. There is just too little that I can offer to them.

If Money

Do you know the feeling of rejecting your good friends’ invitation to go out together just because you have no money?

Have you experienced having such low confidence that you do not even dare to date your dream girl out just because you are penniless?

How long have you last watched a movie?

I have seen the light to overcome these.

I’m always willing to work hard for all things that do not go against my conscience, but will money turn me into a different man in future? Will I even get to enjoy what I have fought for?

First Day of Course after Four Months

[Monday, 26 March, 2007]

The stock market fell and it affected me badly; not the real one though. Work occupied me again. I did my best and slept as early as 4.30am.

I told myself I should sleep longer this day so as to keep myself energetic for the evening’s lesson. I could not remember if anyone had waked me up, but I told myself not to wake up even in the dream. I persisted until early afternoon before opening my eyes.

The afternoon was dull as usual, especially to witness the final result of the stock market at 3pm. After some work, I set off for the office at around 5.30pm.

The company was surprisingly crowded with the higher level people. I took one of the computers to surf net since I was half an hour earlier. Adeline came over to use the computer next to mine and I was glad that she still remembered me.

Almost everyone, except for three other people, was late. The lecturer, Douglas Lee, was very impressive. He was a good speaker with strong tone and gave people the confidence. I met Gary, who was Kelly’s friend. Then, Ruixiang joined me by my side and he talked too much, which was a big turn-off. The course went well. Mingfa called me twice to inform me that he could not make it.

I took bus 145 home. It was pretty crowded considered at the hour and when the bus was near Telok Blangah Height, I spotted an empty seat and went over. Suddenly, I was tagged hard on the shoulder. I turned over and saw Fenghui but she was alighting already.

Another Boring Day

[Sunday, 25 March, 2007]

The battle continued and it lasted till daylight once again. Nobody saw my efforts except for Mike. It was never meant to be shown to anyone for now till I could prove to everyone that websites would bring in a fortune and I was not sitting down in front of the computer to rot daily. I expected myself to be happier when Mike’s company was ready.

I was waked up by Kaven at around noon and soon went back to sleep until mid afternoon. My no-life daily routine started again but on a slow pace. If I were to receive my payment from Google AdSense by end of this month, it would definitely boost my morale and faith to work on.

The day ended in peace.

Supper with Cockroach

[Saturday, 24 March, 2007]

At the very first minute of the day, I was preparing to go downstairs to meet Kachua for supper. He had just ended his work by then. He treated me to my roti prata and teh tarrik and we had quite a long chat over there. I knew well my plan to sleep early would certainly fail again. Before we left, I helped my brother to buy magi goreng, which cost $3.50, which was more expensive than mee goreng.

I continued my morning with chatting with Mike while I carried on with my usual routine. My ten-buck-per-day project was going smooth. This day, I sought for more ways to expand it and Mike helped me with some advice. We also discussed about his soon-to-come company. I wasted a lot of time trying to set forwarding of emails using my domain name. I slept during daylight again.

During the afternoon after I waked up, life was back to editing of websites. There was no volleyball at Clementi ITE on this day due to a seminar taking place inside the hall. I could have organised an outing but my desperate for money kept me too occupied to think of it earlier. I was basically having no life for months and it was not as if I was making big money.

At night, I had to start playing game in order to keep myself energetic after the whole day’s work.

Count to Four and Sleep at One

[Friday, 23 March, 2007]

My plan to sleep early as inspired by Mike, met failure. Both of us were just too similar that we got more active at night time. For me, I always felt lost in the day, which led to slow progress of work or even idling; of course distraction from people dragged my pace down.

Before I realised, it was daylight again. Kaven waked me up after noon in regarding to his office computer’s problems. It started off my day. Brunch was Zhu Chang Fen, which was actually meant for breakfast, but I took it at around 3pm instead, and thus the dried food tasted bad.

There was a problem with my phone that Mingfa claimed he could not get through. I switched it off and on again before it started to work.

Justus came over with Mathematics problems; his mum had given me around sixteen pages of homework to do this time. My head grew bigger this afternoon and I could have completed everything in half an hour to end the suffer.

I had a long chat with Mingfa over the phone in the evening to discuss about stuffs. Later, Kelly complained about it when Grace failed to contact me. I guessed it was problem with Starhub’s poor reception.

My updating of websites continued.

First Encounter at HDB Hub

[Thursday, 22 March, 2007]

Hard work saturated into my brain again and this day I worked till daylight once again. I had some discussion with Irwin before I went off to bed.

Kelly waked me up at around noon time and told me to go and get some document from Kaven to submit to HDB hub on the same day. I was in quite a mess for I had to pass the Ang Mo Kio keys back to Louis in the office as well.

I called Kaven to inform him that I was going over and soon left my house without eating anything. I walked to Hong Leong Building again and after collecting the documents from Kaven, I lost my way while I was in search of the Raffles’ Place MRT station. It was probably because of the lack of sleep that my brain was not functioning properly and went in wrong direction.

Anyway, the trip was fruitful for I got to see some pretty businesswomen and later at the train, I saw cute school girls.

I went to HDB hub straight away at counter A and requested to see the officer at counter 28. I was glad that there was no queue and I soon submitted the documents to the friendly and smart lady there.

Afterwards, I went to Long John Silver’s to take my late brunch and I took Combo 1 as usual. As I was busy replying Kelly and Kaven’s SMSes, I forgot to collect the change from my fifty dollar note and was so embarrassed. The serving was so pathetically small and I was busy replying SMS that the lady besides me left before me.

I took bus 153 towards Bukit Merah. It was a brilliant idea for I would probably not be able to find a seat on the train and the journey was around forty minutes or lesser, which was almost the same for taking train and having to walk a long distance back to office. However, I lost the chance to see more girls. I was planning to sleep throughout the journey but I did not catch a wink at all.

As I entered the office, I realised Louis was not around. I passed the keys to Regina instead and hanged around in the office before using the computer to print out some research for Jessica. I was looking at some magazines at the sofa and the designs were so inspiring. Francis saw me and informed me of the news about future rental deals. I hanged around there until 5pm when the sky turned grey.

I took bus 145 home since the bus-stop was nearer to my house. On the way, Xavier replied me and he seemed to be doing good in BMT.

After reaching home, I continued with my work but I could not overcome my sleepiness. I managed to upload the photos taken with Gilbert and Yongcai during the swim.
