Swim at Jurong West instead of Jurong East

[Monday, 13 December, 2010]

I continued with the SEO for my tuition agency site, followed by blogging and went to bed at 6am.

I woke up after 7am and went off to meet Gilbert and Wanling at Chinese Garden MRT station. Since Gilbert was late, we left first and I was craving for the KFC twister breakfast, which could be located at the Jurong East Swimming Complex. However, the KFC started at 11am and we were too early for it. Wanling and I went to the hawker centre instead and suddenly Gilbert told me he had used his phone to go online and realised the pool did not open on Monday. I quickly called Wanling to return to the table to discuss before she got her food. George called me to keep me even busier as he was enquiring about the old MTRC cards that I was handling before I left ITE. Anyway, both Wanling and I took our breakfast there and Gilbert arrived soon.

We decided to go to Jurong West Swimming Complex instead. We took the train to Pioneer MRT station and walked over. I was all excited at first since it was the first time I had been there. Gilbert was amazed over the construction of it since the entire pool was built on above the ground rather than digging into it. However, the lazy pool’s depth was too shallow. Wanling had the least fun since she had some phobia with water and she had to grab my hands at times. Then, we went up to rent a float. Eventually, we went to the Jacuzzi. It was freezing. Grey clouds marched by but left soon before another platoon of them arrived. Gilbert and I tried the slide once before we left the pool.

We went to Jurong Point for lunch. We dined the Lai Lai restaurant, which Wanling had tried before. I did not like the curry sauce and that I could not finish my food for my bloated stomach and probably because I was too lack of sleep.

We went to walk around and I was stoning all along for I was totally exhausted. Wanling took the same route as me towards east for she was meeting her friend at Novena. I wanted to send her over but she was too nice that she asked me to go home straight, knowing that I was tired.

After reaching home at around 6pm, I dozed off almost immediately for hours.

One of the Best Days – Suntan, Dinner and Movie

[Friday, 3 September, 2010]

I was taken aback to realise that my source code for the Quit Smoking Calculator being stolen by someone who was foolish enough to be discovered by me. I was probably too naïve to believe that the world was still quite decent and nobody would have done that; at least the person would have credited it to me. This was not the case this time and the girl did not even care to modify much of the coding. I dropped her an email to check if she was a human or wildlife before I would do anything. I could see details of her in her Facebook profile.

I spent too much time doing the website instead of looking for a job, and I really cherished my baby a lot.

This nasty incident forced me to include a simple copyright statement on top of the pages in a form of comment. Scripting in JavaScript for simple application was easier than doing it in PHP, which involved other pages, but due to security purpose, I would have to make new adjustments in future.

I went to bed after 5am but the backache caused me my sleep. It was really bad this time that I could only doze off after 6am despite I was really tired. I woke up before 8am, before my alarm clock on my phone sounded. Even though I lazed on the mattress, I did not dare to doze off for I knew I would oversleep. Wanling dropped me a SMS to delay our meeting time from 9.30am to 10.30am. After stepping out of my house before 10am, I asked her and she told me she would make it at 11am instead. I returned home after seeing her reply.

The top buttons of my Sony Ericsson G705 failed on me whenever I pulled the slide phone down and I had to push it back before I could press the button to send SMS. Since I had got the time, I did a restore factory setting action to be surprised that the phone went back to normal. However, it soon regained the stupidity. I was glad that the phone did not die on me totally before I met up with Wanling at Harbourfront MRT station.

We went to Breeks Café at Harbourfront Centre. Since I had taken my breakfast while waiting for her earlier on, I did not have room for food. Consuming a bowl of soup was filling enough. We started our usual chatting and I was quite astonished over her comment on me that I had too many things in mind to get working, which made her a good observer. We went over to the hawker centre to purchase our lunch from my favourite chicken rice stall before we boarded the Sentosa bus.

We went to Siloso beach on account that there would be more bikinis than the Palawan Beach’s side. We lay the picnic mats and started to enjoy the peaceful day, watching foreigners passing by and a couple showing off hot kisses. It was one of the best afternoons I had ever had, suntanning with a sweet girl who could easily tolerate all my craps and indecisiveness for more than eleven years.

Apart from the enjoyment, I had headaches regarding the dinner date I had with Guoxin and Mingli without my phone. I had to use Wanling’s phone to communicate with them and I was hoping too much to finalise it as soon as possible that it cracked my head. The problem was I wanted to include Wanling in since she had no curfew, and that Mingli had told me that she did not want to go out till late hour. Guoxin and I were considering over catching a movie after dinner over either at Vivocity or Jurong Point. If we were to catch it at Vivocity, it was more convenient to go home for Wanling but Mingli might find it a hassle to meet us; whereas, Jurong Point was too far for Wanling to go home. Guoxin suggested going to his house after the movie at Jurong Point to wait for his dad’s car so that he could send Wanling and I home, but it would be after midnight. After hesitating for some time, Wanling finally gave in and agreed to Guoxin’s suggestion.

After washing up in the late afternoon, we went to Harbourfront’s MacDonald’s because Wanling was too thirsty for the coke, which she claimed that the restaurant served the best. I tried hard to fix my phone but it insisted to depart.

We met up with Guoxin first and went to the movie ticket booth immediately to purchase the tickets. Mingli met up with us at New York New York. I had a plate of teriyaki chicken instead of fish and chips for I wanted to fill my stomach with something harder. After dinner, we shopped for a while until near 9pm when the movie started. I forgot to get a group photo before Mingli left.

We went into the cinema right in time when the movie – Grown-ups – started. The seat was low and I had a bad time with my back, trying not to block the person behind me by sitting low. The comedy was fantastic and I almost died laughing many times. I supposed the companion made it better.

After that, we took bus to Guoxin’s house and started playing with his dog, Golden. Then, we played daidee and I got my ear and forehead hit by Guoxin.

Dinner with Happy Peiyun

I finally got to meet up with Peiyun again after years. Eleven years of friendship was fate too kind to me. We got to Boonlay MRT at almost the same time. She was kind, friendly and simple like usual. We had dinner at New York New York but I finally realised I would prefer Fish&Co after the dinner.

We walked around and she repeated her concern whether I was too tired or bored. She grabbed some clothes and by the end of the night, we went to Popular where she bought me a phone pouch to repay me for the dinner. I did not really want to get it since my current tearing one was bought by my younger brother and I would never feel good to dump it.

Comparing the meal and pouch, I would prefer getting the physical gift to being treated for dinner because the gift could last longer for good memorial; the food went into the stomach and would be forgotten in no time after flushing the toilet.

I felt very uneasy for not sending her home but I supposed she would be shyer if I were to do it.

This friendship I would cherish, for nobody I could think of could be kinder than her.

Dinner, Volleyball and Supper

I had a great volleyball game on Thursday, other that my face was smashed by the ball at an extreme angle from the opposite side.

The fun started off before the game as Kachua arrived at the campus early and I joined him together with Weitat to Jurong Point. We did not really know the exact way but decided to try our luck with the uncertainty. Sitting at the passenger seat was more relaxing and I was certainly blessed.

The old food court at the main Jurong Point shopping centre was under renovation and we changed our plan to the duck rice stall. It was one of the rare times that I did not finish my meal because of Kachua’s brother, the little cockroach, who flew on my food. To think that I thought he was a fly at first…

Walking around the shopping centre was great although it made us tired when we got back to the campus.

I was able to recover my skill slowly, using more of my wrist power. I was not confident with my servicing skill, which I used to be powerful and almost error-free in the past. The lack of practising caused a great dealt to my confidence. I would not have put in so much effort until my spectacle dropped off and I poured in my strength to jump.

We made our way down to the Carl’s Junior fast food restaurant at Big Splash after the game. I wondered why so many teenagers could be there on a Thursday midnight since the place was not so accessible.

It was all good and I was happy throughout the evening and early morning.

Jennifer’s Farewell Lunch and New Project

Beginning of the week was very discouraging. There were many works awaiting for me to accomplish and I was not sure which to start with.

The happiest moment of the morning was when Wee Lian asked me to join him for lunch together with bosses from other departments, however, it was Jennifer’s last day and thus we had to give a miss to the great interaction with boss.

Sometimes, I was afraid of getting too near to the bosses or any other superior, and I had been like this since long ago. My main concern was that others might mistake my real intentions. This was one of the main reasons I did not reply bosses’ emails once each task was completed.

Usually, I would show appreciation after leaving any place. It might be too late since maintaining contact was much tougher but I would make sure I would do my best to make kind people feel appreciated somehow; I lacked appreciation.

It had been one of my wishes to dine with the bosses since I had already done it with almost all other colleagues.

Lunch was at Jurong Point. Daniel, Jennifer, Weitat, Jingkun and I tried the Nyonya restaurant but the nasi lemak let us down. They even forgot to add eggs for two of the plates. Iced chendol was served with lousy quality ice and I had to leave the winter-like place with a large piece of ice left inside the bowl. Anyway, all the waiters seemed to be very inexperienced when I saw their hands trembling each time they brought dishes over.

The four of us (males) split the cost at $18.50 each for the five sets of meals, which was far too expensive for the standard of food.

Jingkun left for his dental appointment after sending us back to school. On the way, Jennifer declared that her husband was taking over her position. I was not very surprised since I did not even know the new arrangement in the first place but it was a piece of amazing news after all.

I had a small meeting with Wee Lian and Jonathan regarding a new brochure design work. There was a lot of bullshit that no other places could ever produce such fun. My designing skill was never at a standard to produce very fantastic work but Wee Lian appreciated me a lot. I was very pressurized although it was an interesting work.

The evening was a disaster back at home when I checked my phone.

Fridays Start at Six AM Again

Having an exhausting evening, sleeping at three AM and waking up at six AM, Friday was a torture.

Thing went on quite smoothly. Jingkun drove us out for lunch again and I started nodding at the back of the car to realise that we were reaching Jurong Point, and then I dozed off again until we were at the car park.

Both Weitat and Jingkun had itchy mouths that they had some small bites before having our lunch. A little walk around to search for watch kept my body weak due to famine and I was probably walking like a zombie. We went to the “Lai Lai” stall and that was my second visit for the small portion of duck meat together with a can of drinks which cost $4.70. I had a chocolate waffle and the chocolate spilled out during one of my bites, which messed up my lips and hands.

I actually planned to leave office earlier than the rest to get a nap first before the night’s event, but I ended up inside the Self Assessment room because of my problem child female. I left together with Daniel and we strolled to the MRT station.

I had a very short nap in the midst of working.

I met up with Sichun at nine PM at Telok Blangah Height’s bus stop and we went to the Sai’s family’s eldest sister’s funeral. All of them were busy and thus, we were the two loners waiting for Jinyang’s arrival, which more than an hour later. Nevertheless, it was a good catch up with Sichun. We had questions in our minds but dared not to ask.

Jinyang arrived late with his girlfriend, Sufen, in cab after taking a tour at Telok Blangah Crescent. I left at around midnight and was glad that I was still able to catch the bus though I had to walk a longer distance home.

Movie with Jonathan Tan Er Xin

Tuesday’s lunch was at Jurong Point together with Mingli. Mingfa probably did not join us due to his x-ray appointment at NUH. We dined at the stall called “Lai Lai”, which sold mainly duck. It was a pretty expensive meal for duck rice.

We shopped at the supermarket for the next day’s pot luck gathering before sending Mingli home with the food.

It was the last day of work before the long weekends since we were given three days’ off. After Weitat and Jingkun left, I confirmed with Guoxin the time to meet up while I continued with my work.

Guoxin arrived in his dad’s car and we proceeded straight to Vivocity where we got the tickets to the movie “Painted Skin”. Next, we walked around and eventually landed at the Food Republic food court. I tried to bring down the wall between him and my buddies but his mindset was different from others.

The movie “Painted Skin” was not bad, except that both Guoxin and I expected more grand action scenes.

The movie was more of an “excuse” for meeting him up. I missed the days the entire group got together and went for beach and even movie together. Many things could not be pieced back especially with just a tiny single strength.

After the movie, I actually wanted to bring him to either the Henderson Waves or Marina South Pier but he seemed tired. He sent me home straight away, which was the greatest decision with the drizzling.

Dinner and Shopping at Jurong Point

The first day of work for the week poured exhaustion into me. I repeated the same mistake of wasting time and money to join my gang for dinner at Jurong Point. I had too many unfinished work to handle and the peer pressure was placing me into further suffocation.

Initially we planned to go to Vivocity, which was much nearer to my house but Mingfa seemed to be shagged and thus we quickly changed the plan and alighted from bus 963 to switch to bus 154. It seemed to be a long journey that I started dozing off soon.

This picture does not do the big portion of fish well enough. Better picture next time!

After strolling around and biting of waffles, we met up with Mingfa at the food court where I had one of the largest plates of fish and chips ever. Quantity was its only pro and eating too much of the hard fish was simply tiring; it ridiculously cost six bucks, which the highest price you could ever find in a normal food court.

We continued walking around the shopping centre and Mingfa bought an ankle guard which cost over hundred dollars.

I had a tiring journey home in the train and eventually dozed off before I could do much work.
