Second Trekking at Dairy Farm Nature Park

[Wednesday, 10 March, 2010]

The day started off terribly. It was pouring heavily and my pant got wet during the journey to Bukit Batok. My stomach was rebellious. I was surprised to see that Andrew had set up everything when I arrived, however, the headphones were all plugged in at the wrong slots. I made a dash to the toilet after I cleared up the time bombs.

The lessons started later than usual. I took charge of everything and began with my usual craps. However, I was surprised by the rude girls who eventually made me burst after almost forty-five minutes of tolerance. I lectured them on how to be good human beings based on the teaching materials of customer service. After the break, I let Andrew took over the class since I could not kill my anger. I was very sure that Andrew would never be able to handle them without my earlier lecture to scare them off. He left before noon for me to settle everything by myself.

It was the third day of the week and also the third day my eyes were not listening to my commands. When I started to feel feverish, I realised what had happened to my eyes.

I joined in the trekking at Dairy Farm and we took a different route this time. The quarry side had better scenery. I was quite shocked when I realised I did not charge my camera’s battery after the Pulau Ubin cycling but it did last through the trip. On the return trip, we took the wrong path and entered a private place accidentally, which I thought it was a good accident for the place looked very nice.

I took a lift from Alex after the walk and dropped at Bugis together with Joei and Darni.

Dairy Farm Walk

Yesterday, I wasted the entire afternoon at Bukit Batok ITE, hoping it could be beneficial to me after being arrowed over. At least, I got to spend time with some of the best students.

In the evening, I joined the outing to Dairy Farm. It was the first time I took Diana’s car. It was a short walk and I tried to snap everything on the way, having to run every few minutes in order to catch up with them. It was not a good day for photography somehow for I did not have the feeling at all.

Diana dropped Darni and I at the MRT station, and I felt quite bad for it was quite far away from her home.

It was one of the earliest times I dozed off at around midnight.

.

Tree Top Walk at Macritchie Reservoir

I was tremendously excited by the Treetop Walk at Macritchie Reservoir. It was planned since more than a year ago by Gilbert and I, but we were tied down by other commitments.

This time, we had my younger brother, Wanling and Jesslin. I told Wanling to sleep early, knowing I would not be able to do it myself. As anticipated, it took me some time to settle down and to blog, and I could finally sleep at around 1am.

It was a tough fight to wake up at 5am, and the battle lasted for some minutes before I got up to get prepared. Like usual, my younger brother and I missed the first train. We went to Ang Mo Kio to meet up with the rest of them even though we had direct bus over to Macritchie; it was for convenience sake since Wanling had not met Gilbert before and that we were not very sure of the exact bus-stop to alight.

It was simply less than ten minutes’ bus trip and we reached at 7am as planned. It was a long journey through the forest and we had no idea when the path would end. Alas we saw vehicles and eventually reached a country club. Since there were road signs, we were able to find our way without much problem.

Our resting point was at the ranger station. The urinal was flooded and before I could prepare the camera, two foreigners came in and I gave up the idea of taking pictures.

As we proceeded upwards again, we saw to our disappointment for we were too early for the bridge to be opened. We sat near the top of the stairs at the main road and there was a little cute boy who kept us entertained.

The 250 metres bridge was too short for enjoyment. Most people were simply crossing it fast and thus, we did not want to get into their ways and ended up not posing a lot for photos. After the walk, it was far long journey upwards and downwards, exhausting us badly. We reached the Juletong tower and enjoyed the breeze at the second top level under the shade.

After that, we passed by the golf course to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the reservoir right along the water.

We bid goodbye near the carpark. My younger brother and I missed bus 167 and waited very long for the next one. It was crowded and we could only find ourselves seats after Velocity. I dozed off on the bus and my brother told me the journey was almost one and a half hour.

It started drizzling upon we alighted. We went to the market to meet our mum for lunch. After bathing, my younger brother went out. I felt quite bad for he failed to catch his long sleep due to joining me for the trip, whereby I was able to rest after it.

Henderson Waves with Family

Sunday started off in the morning with my elder brother’s plan to have breakfast at Amoy Street. We were, however, so unlucky that the stall was having a two day break. Therefore, we had chicken rice instead. So, my elder brother and his girlfriend and my mum shared half a white chicken and half a roosted chicken at twenty bucks. The taste was normal but I did not like the soup. After eating, we had a little shopping at the NTUC.

The next part of the day was during the late afternoon after taking a nap. My younger brother and mum were ready to go to the Henderson Waves. We stopped by the bread shop near 7-11 store and got some buns. My mum had a waffle and complained that the amount of peanut butter applied was very little.

The Henderson Waves

We started off at Henderson Road and challenged the stairs. It was not that tough after all. After admiring the place which I had been to for more than four times already, we proceeded towards the Terrence garden and then down Forest Walk. We stopped at Hort Park and the entire trip took us more than an hour.

We took a bus to Vivocity and shopped at the Giant. We conquered the groceries section and managed to let my mum know that we had to carry whatever we bought all the way home. We were drooling over some nice and cheap sofa but had to face the fact that our house was too cramp and messy to put any.

Next, we stopped at the Starhub shop and applied to change our house’s phone line to Starhub since we would be enjoying the free service as long as we were subscribed to SCV Max-online. We were the last customer and the Pilipino staff Christopher impressed me with his politeness.

We bought big coleslaw from Harbourfront Centre’s KFC and went down to MacDonald’s for dinner. They did not have student meal and thus, our budget meal was destroyed.

Southern Ridges Trip 2

I made my second trip down to Southern Ridges for the second time on last Saturday morning. It was a trip organised by Gilbert since more than a month ago. Initially I felt the stress of works piling up and thus, quite regretting promising him to go.

It started raining while I was waiting for them at the starting point. It was good to see Yong, June and Sherlyn once again. We started sitting at the top of the stairs until a SMRT staff came over to ask us to go further down to get out of the camera’s sight, which was quite weird.

As the rain stopped, we began our journey and this time, Gilbert and I made sure that we would not make any unnecessary detour like the previous time. I was extremely tired after the previous night’s volleyball and I my legs were weak upon the start. Since we were walking at a much faster pace, I was quite worried for the other three of them not able to fully enjoy the sceneries.

We met up with another Gilbert’s friend, Charles, at the Henderson Waves, and together, we proceeded on the same track like the previous time. At the moment we reached Hort Park, Gilbert was not feeling well and we took a little rest. Gilbert insisted to proceed on with his plan and thus we pushed westward, over Canopy Walk before making a final rest. Then, we made sure we took the correct path down the end of the Science Park where we took the bus to Buona Vista. We took only three hours to conquer the Southern Ridges this time.

We transited to bus 100 back to Vivocity, where we had a concussion one by one, and as usual, I took the lead. Sherlyn was wide awake throughout though and Charles got alighted somewhere to go home. The rest of us had our lunch at Seah Lm Food Centre and I had the usual chicken rice. Yong ordered a drinks from the fruit stall called “Power” for me. It was secret recipe and I could only taste mango but it was not bad.

After lunch, we walked towards Vivocity and soon, took Yong’s car back to his condominium at Geylang. We slacked at his place for quite some time before going down to the pool. The girls played PSP by the poolside. I was too weak to swim and the water started to freeze me. In a while, I was found enjoying at the Jacuzzi, which failed to satisfy me.

We moved over to the standalone Jacuzzi further away which seemed to be boiling. We had to lower down our body bit by bit to get used to the temperature. It was all comfort after we succeeded in submerging the entire body under neck. The next challenge was to enter the normal pool to taste the freezing water. My legs gave ways before reaching the destination and put my butts on the floor; the expanding and contracting of muscle in the process could have caused the weakness. Next, I enjoyed the feeling of dipping myself entirely into iced water. I made my last dip into the warm Jacuzzi before they called it off the day.

Back to the house, we called Rite Pizza to make orders for dinner. It was a splendid meal. Then, we continued to play PSP until around ten PM and Charles started sending Sherlyn, Gilbert and I home. I had some good chat with him on the way.

Trekking at Southern Ridges

I completed the Southern Ridges trekking with Gilbert just now.

We met up at the Seah Lm food centre and started off at the Harbourfront MRT station.

We took the right direction after going uphill and finally walked the opposite direction towards Jewel Box restaurant (Slogan: Singapore’s Iconic Hilltop Destination).

Next, we crossed Faber Walk and finally reached the speculate Henderson Waves; we were so impressed by the great work at such a great height – near 80 kilometres above sea level.

We proceeded to Hilltop Walk and after more struggles under the hot sun, we reached Forest Walk, which was a grand place with the steel bridge leading visitors towards the Alexandra Arch; it was never possible to access to Alexandra Arch from the Hilltop Walk with the steep slopes until the completion of the Forest Walk.

We finally arrived at Hort Park which I had visited once a few ago near midnight and could not walk around. I did not expect it to be a very big place.

We took the Canopy Walk and lastly, arrived at the Science Park after some extra walks.

It took us around five hours to complete the journey, inclusive the photo taking throughout the expedition.

We took bus to Bouna Vista MRT and walked to Holland Village after that. After some consideration, we decided to dine at Coffee Club. It was my first time and a very disappointing one. Gilbert discouraged me to order fish and chips and thus, I tried the Alfredo, which was actually pasta together with ham and mushroom in mushroom cream. I was actually “allergic” to pasta and furthermore, the sauce made me sick right after a few bites. The soup of the day was tomato soup, which was not to my liking. After the dinner, which I did not finish, I had mochaccino and I had never expected it to be served hot, and thus, I was extremely disappointed. The dinner could be described as a complete disaster.

The Upcoming Trip to the New Bridge

I’m planning to visit the new bridge at Harbourfront this weekend. I should have gone there with Gilbert a few days ago since none of the people I have asked is free to join me.

So much for my love for photography, it would definitely be a fruitful trip for me.

I’m so lazy to find out more about the location at this moment, not even the exact name. Gilbert told me he read from newspapers that it would probably take around five hours to finish the two joint bridges from Harbourfront to West Coast. I’m very lazy to go around calling people as well since probably not many friends will find the trip meaningful and can follow my pace. I hate rejections.

I will probably set off by myself if nobody is really interested to join me. After all, I have been such a loner for all these while, and I have actually being trained to be alone; I used to feel weird to be outside alone but not anymore now.

The only fear is my feet because the bloody unprofessional doctors since my army days have not yet to care about them, and I get lots of pains after walking or jogging for long.

No matter what, I must continue to stay by myself, just like jogging alone to Marina South Pier. I’m not going to care about what others would think of me because being a loner is not a crime.

Sentosa – trekking, beaching, Skyride and Luge

[Saturday, 08 July, 2006]

Gilbert caused all the weariness on everyone’s face. I did not know trekking was so tedious until he gave me the experience.

He messaged me that he would be late for fifteen minutes and I was all prepared to be later than him since others would probably not be earlier than him. I dragged on and did everything slowly and even went to get a bottle of mineral water at 7-Eleven. I caught Gilbert at Outram Park MRT after I transited; it was so coincident but anyway we were late for half an hour and the rest was there already, namely Tze Siang, Yongfu, Ivan and Siu Hang.

We went to Harbourfront Centre to get more mineral water and also some buns to fill our stomachs. Then, we proceeded to Sentosa Island. We started with discussing whether which bus to take when I kept confirming that it was the Blue Line because I always took it to the Underwater World to stroll to Siloso beach. However, suddenly we started walking instead.

Ivan and Gilbert had different opinions on the route to take as Gilbert wanted to take the sheltered path instead. I had a cold sweat because flaming at the beginning of the day was a very bad indication. Things got well but Gilbert’s determination to comb up the Mount Imbiah, making detours caused our exhaustion. My feet started to ache again soon and it sounded stupid to be on slippers. It was a good experience anyway.

Lunch was at the Subway near Butterfly Park. I called Vivi to ask if she wanted to eat with me but since she did not reply, I decided to accompany the rest instead. It was the first time I bought food at a Subway outlet and was very lost, making a fool out of myself somehow.

After which, we stopped at Carlsberg Sky Tower and Gilbert wanted to take a photo with it when it was two metres from the ground. After waiting for some time, he gave up. We decided to proceed to the beach to meet up with Peh but ended up at near the Merlion instead. I roughly knew the way but did not want to set up a Three Kingdoms’ war.

When we were certain of the route, I decided to go out to fetch Vivi immediately instead of making a big detour from the beach. There was a group of guys at the back of the bus and one of them was singing “Kiss Goodbye” so disgustingly. I went to the MRT’s toilet immediately and soon I heard the same song and voice again when I was inside one of the cabins.

Seeing Vivi was a fascinating moment. She was in her sportiest looks, wearing a sleeveless shirt, which she would never wear out of her house. Submissive in her charm, I seemed to be living in a dream to be with such a sweet girl. The tiredness to go all the way out to escort her when I was exhausted was worth it.

We went to Palawan beach to meet up with the rest as Peh said that Sunsetbay was fully booked already. They were having volleyball game upon we arrived. The opponents looked very serious in the friendly match and I heard they were practising there just for the upcoming beach competition. Their efforts seemed pointless when all the same competitive players would eventually win the tournaments and that their skills did not even match the average skilled teams.

Anyway, I joined in the games but sometimes I was helpless when the balls went out of my area. The wind and low net also prevented me from doing my best. Actually, I had fun other than playing volleyball; the teasing with Vivi and the fight with Siu Hang kept me occupied. Nevertheless it was the greatest feeling to have someone so sweet to try to clear all the sand on my body even when I was wetted with sweats.

It was great that she was able to communicate well with my friends and that similar to me, she found Gilbert cute. Though, she could be childish sometimes to dislike their teasing by calling me intimately just like she always called me. And when I “flirted” with Siu Hang, she started to ignore me.

After washing up, followed by a short stop at the 7-Eleven, we went for the Sky Ride and Luge. It was cool to be up in the air with the person you loved. For her, I had to brave myself up and cover my timidity, holding her hands and assuring her her safety. But still, I had this fear in my brain that my slippers might fall off anytime. The Luge was fun and it could be fast enough, except that little kids were blocking the ways and I had to keep an eye on her that I did not go all the way down. Unfortunately and disgustingly, I went out of track at a curve when I was looking back at her. Overall, the money was well-spent because of her.

The next stop was dinner at Harbourfront’s Seah Lm food centre. The shuttle buses were very cramp but it was great enough to be with my dearest girl and good friends. Gilbert was quiet and totally shagged that we felt so weird. Gilbert, Peh and his girlfriend went home immediately while the rest of us crossed over the Harbourfront Centre to shop around. By then, I was already floating in the air of love.

My feet were giving me pains more than ever, especially when I was carrying the big bag. The final destination was of course her house but this time I was so tired that I asked her to spend a quiet moment with me somewhere at the neighbourhood but her neighbours had already “booked” most of the places. Knowing that I ought to take a rest before moving on, but I hurried home immediately to doze off an hour later halfway through the MSN chat with her.
