Second and Third Volleyball Games of the Year

I had my second miracle touch of the year on volleyball last Thursday evening. As I had only a couple hours of sleep the night before and that I over-exerted myself with my big heavy backpack after walking around, my muscle was giving way. I did not do well and both my legs cramped at the same time for a second in the air during the second game.

My third volleyball session was on last Saturday at Sentosa. It was also my second visit there, but the first beach volleyball game I had for the year. I could not stop teasing Kian Wee since I had not met him for almost half a year. The games were great and jumping without the shoes gave me the chance to do better than in indoor court. We did not have dinner together and thus I could not give him a big treats for his previous year’s birthday.

Exams are Over

The end of the two exams papers put my mind to a temporary peaceful but not so peaceful state.

The first paper was a killer. I was so disappointed to hear that most of the questions were same as the tutorial’s guide, which put me in despair since I was among the group who did not receive any tips to go through it.

The second paper took me just slightly more than half an hour to complete since most of the MCQ questions were repeated questions; a pity for my memory was not that good to remember everything.

Bad Dining Experience at Clementi RC Jack’s Place

Last Friday’s lunch was Clementi Recreational Centre’s Jack’s Place restaurant. It was Dorothy’s favourite and most of the staffs already knew her name.

All of them ordered steak except for me since I could not take beef. I had my usual fish and chips instead. Mrs Wo’s cup had cracks at the top. Then, Dorothy’s steak was fully done instead of medium. In the end, they served us with spoilt fruits to destroy their final chance of showing off the restaurant.

Dorothy called for the manager and asked for advice and the manager offered to use ice-cream to replace the fruits. Dorothy asked for black forest cake instead and he unwillingly agreed. I had a small scope of chocolate ice-cream, whereas Dorothy’s slice of cake was pathetically small.

We were so disappointed with the service and service recovery skill. In the end, one of the waiters bought a cake out of her own pocket money and gave it to Dorothy. She impressed us so much more than the stingy manager did.

Another Unpleasant Visit to Outram Polyclinic

Last Friday, I went back to Outram Polyclinic again. The queue was short and I got to see Doctor Alfred Wong very soon, which was one of the fastest ever.

He gave me the impression that he was from overseas, or rather, used to work as a journalist; he simply reminded me of a colleague. Anyway, he insisted there was nothing wrong with my eyes except for the recent virus attack, which had subsided since a week ago. Regarding my gum, he was certain that it was probably due to the gum had overgrowth and thus it was “back to normal” after I had some bleeding months ago; he was definitely a moron and I regretted telling him about the problem in the first place. Maybe he was shortsighted that he could not spot the difference.

Nevertheless, I was given two bottles of same artificial tears, which was quite helpful in relaxing my eyes.

A Choice – Do We?

We don’t have a choice, do we?

There are a couple of times I have mentioned I’m helpless over many stuffs in this world; and now I need to reinforce – Yes, I have limited capability.

Can we fall sick for weeks and not having people criticizing behind us?

Can we have less distraction from tiny matters and that things would not affect our moods after the occurrences?

Do we have a choice to choose to go after our dreams?

Second Badminton Session of the Year

I continued my Tuesday with the giddiness. Artificial tears did not seem to help much.

I knew well study and work all days would simply make me dull and weak. I went for the second badminton session of the entire year and had great fun. They all simply loved my entertainment for them by flying all over the court even though I certainly had no skill in the game. With bruises and blue-black, I felt quite satisfied.

Mingfa’s kids came over. Sean questioned me,”Have you lost interest in volleyball?” I was to speechless to explain my situation. To think it was funny, I played badminton one more time than I played volleyball this year.

Meihoe’s urging to make me join them for dinner set me on a wrong path. We were taking rather long time to get to the place, which was actually near Bukit Gombak MRT. It was late by the time I got home and the worst thing was that I did not even know who foot the bill, to set me in guilt.

It was not a day for such luxury relaxation.

One Full Week – Sick but Happy

I counted the days from one to seven. A continuous of eight days with temporary inner peace came in good timing for me to battle with the severe illnesses. I tasted all the different kinds of shit from the predators but all was good except for the eyes. Finally, I realised there were blood clots inside my nose.

The week was torturing but sweet.

Drinking and Sweating Helped

I was drunk with lots of herbal tea and other drinks to replenish my energy and hydrate myself. Alas, the sweating and toileting worked by Saturday, when I was left with only giddiness and my body temperature stayed at around 37 degree. It was unusual though, for my usual temperature would not exceed 36.6 degree.

The worst thing was that my mum forbade me from bathing in case I would be caught by flu again.

However, another problem had yet to be solved – my tired eyes. A stunning recall of the past, for as long as two years ago, the same problems aroused. I remembered the doctor told me my eyes were infected and I was given two types of eye drops. This time round, the doctor probably thought I was tired due to the flu.

My Saturday was spent updating of blogs and gaming.
