There is No Place Called Home

One of the greatest fears at home is when my younger brother brings his friends back to stay overnight.

I welcome visitors and so does my mum, and I’m sure all of us love that atmosphere, but it is impossible to adequate more people in the 3-room flat. One thing is that the visitors consist of both genders.

If you happened to see my MSN nick a couple of months back regarding the need to find a place to rent, that was when my younger brother brought his friends back and my elder brother’s girlfriend came as well. When both rooms were occupied, I had to sleep on the dirty and messy living room’s floor.

It is not about immatureness but the efforts to spare thoughts for people in your surroundings, and especially towards your family members.

Together with the daily irritation and distraction in the house, I feel like moving out at times. Of course, my financial situation does not allow. Frankly speaking, I cannot survive without my mum.

The house is left behind by my dad and none of us has worked for it; and thus I do not think any of us has the right to inherit it fully. I hope both my brothers are working towards getting their own houses in future like me, but meanwhile, spare more thoughts for all family members.

In fact, I’m always hoping that my flat will be enblocked so that we might be given a new flat with three bedrooms, but it seems impossible in near future because the government is still trying hard to upgrade the thirty years old flat and its surrounding area.

For those who own your own bedroom, please cherish your freedom and privacy, and your comfortable bed.

Selfish Students

I feel pity for students who go to school idling around during lessons and not doing given work. They are not only wasting the teachers’ time but their own time as well. They are the most selfish creatures in the world to waste their parents’ money.

When things have to be done, do it.

If you are there for a purpose, make the purpose valid.

When you are at school, make full use of the time to study hard and absorb as many things as you can. Even if your absorption power is low, make sure you make efforts. If you do not want to study or do assignments at home, finish them during lesson time.

Poppye after Volleyball

It is a big turn off to play volleyball with people who show “black face” for no reason right at the beginning of the game. But we have to accept the fact that not everyone knows how to control emotion. The next time when you decide to roar or show your discontentment, consider whether if it is pointless and if it will give negative effect instead, because we are all grow-ups.

All the way to Changi Airport to have Poppye is really interesting but somehow it strikes me for the fact that Wilson and Weitat always have to drive so far and also waste their petrol fee. It is a mixture of whelming with togetherness and guilt. If I were the one who owns the car, I might not want to drive so far away unless I’m not tired and is rich enough to afford the petrol fee.

When you do not know when is the right time to talk and whether your friends are in the mood to talk, it is best to remain silent. But silence can be a torment during long journeys. We all want to be with the correct crowd but the sacrificing ones always have to give in.

We grow up to have our own sets of thinking. What is required is the ability to compromise; but too much is bad because people tend to take you for granted.

First Test

If only I could join earlier I would understand all the lessons better; it was quite difficult to get started into halfway.

Anyway, I had my first test invigilation on my third day of work. Sally Ng was a nice lady and she taught and helped me a lot. It was a mess to make students print out their papers during the test.

After that, I made a few rounds of fast walking and running to search for Mrs Seetoh who left her class in my classroom without letting me know. Then, I had to tolerate the class’s nagging to release them early.

I talked to one of the guys who seemed to be rotting his life away. I did not have the time to talk more to him with the noisy girls around, but I hoped my questions for him could make him reflect more on himself.

Scam Alert

I received a spam from the number (+65)81885003.

To the bastard:

I do not care about any free sex or shit. If you are so rich to give out any free air ticket, then you do not have to sell anything. If you want to lie, risking your entire family getting retribution in future, I can sigh for you.

I did not ever take part in any survey that requires my number. If you are trying to earn money by irritating others, be cursed.

You think by putting the texts in front and you are safe? Do I have to waste my SMS to “unsubscribe”? Do you even worth the few cents? How do I know if there is no hidden plot?

I can play games after midnight if you persist.

Big Impact on Left Knee

It was a very tiring day. Having not enough sleep for couples of days in a row, I almost could not get up again. Blame it on my perseverance to continue with my “Quit Smoking” website that I spent some time working on it before going to sleep at 2am.

The feeling of not knowing the subject and yet have to teach the class strike me. I do not want to be looked down on. There are many things I want to learn but time plays a big part.

Volleyball was horrible. Jingkun and I had a little jog around Nanhua primary school and my shoes were wetted by the slippery and muddy ground because it rained earlier. During one of the games when I dived forward to save a drop ball, Stephen was on my left and in order to avoid banging onto the ground, my left knee hit the ground on the right side with a big impact. I stopped playing immediately and had to limp.

I dozed off by the side for some time and left immediately upon they called it a day.

School has begun

Yesterday, I went to report to Clementi ITE for the interview. Jingkun did great help to assist me and guide me around. The department heads were super nice people. During the interview with Mr Peh, he was stricter than usual and that was admiring.

I followed Jingkun to his lessons and learnt how he conducted his classes. Later, Mingfa came to pick me up and drove me to the Clementi Posbank, where I got my Giro form stamped. While waiting at the car park for Mingfa to pick Weitat up, a fortune-teller approached me and luckily they came back in time. We went back to Clementi ITE to pick Jingkun up and Mingfa treated us to late lunch nearby. Together, we went back to the ITE. Since I did not bring along my sports gears, I stayed for a while to watch Mingfa and Weitat conduct training and left home together with Jingkun after a while.

I had problems sleeping at night again. I slept for less than four hours again. It was nice to meet the friendly cleaner at the door who offered to open the door for me since my access “card” was not ready. The department heads were too busy to attend to me and I followed Jingkun to class instead. I would probably have lunch together with him everyday unless our timetable crash.

I followed Mr Baey to his class after lunch and was quite shock that his class was supposed to prepare a debate and I was going to take over him after he left for course. I followed Jingkun again and this time to his Web Publishing class. Halfway through, I went down to make my staff room access “card”.

Mas was finally at the administration office after I missed him the day before and during lunch. However, he claimed that he could only help me with my key stick because the person in charge of the door access “card” was on leave. I was glad that Mdm Yip was around, and persuaded him to help me. He finally agreed to do it but claimed that he could not really remember the steps. Finally everything was done. Later, Kok Chiang told me Mas and his colleague loved to push responsibilities around and that explained why I was delayed. Anyway, Mr Baey was going on course for a few days and I had to stand in his class for Friday and Monday, and even do invigilation on behalf of him on Friday.

Since it was pouring heavily, Jingkun stayed in the classroom with his students and I almost dozed off a few times. We left the school together with Kok Chiang and Ah Teck at nearly 7pm. Parts of my shirt were soaked through even though I was carrying an umbrella. It was quite nice to be able to leave together even though it was late, except that it could be much better if Weitat and Mingli were around to join us.

I’m Attached

I’m attached to Clementi ITE for the next few months, for at most a year. It can be three or six months, but I think I would probably decide how long to stay depending on my own performance.

Playing volleyball will be easier and more often since Mingfa is coaching over there, and I probably will drop by every afternoon when there is training.

I’m worried about my websites. Hopefully I can “squeeze” out some free time in the college to persist on because I probably will not be able to do much at home after the long day.

I will probably try to stay at home more often especially the night before any working day. Friday and Saturday nights are precious then.

I actually slept right after midnight this morning and Da Zhang could be my witness because I last chatted with him in MSN. There were some possible reasons why I could doze off so early:
– mum was not home yet to make any noise
– mum was not home yet to switch on the dim light
– mum was not home yet to switch on the freezing and noisy air-conditioner
– I slept on the harder mattress
– I was a bit lack of sleep and was tired after the long day out
– I did not work on any website before sleeping

Hopefully, I can continue to doze off early every day.

Scene Aired on TV

My scenes in 天堂鸟 were finally screened on episode fifteen. It was only my side view but was probably one of the longest you could get to see. The other CID besides me was Tommy, same age as me, and he was inside my MSN list.

I still feel guilty for making both Tommy and Zhang Zhengyuan (Huang Shinan) ran extra miles due to the NGs.

There will be less chance when I start working full time because I probably will use my night time for websites.

Suck. Time is running out.

Small Spring Cleaning

My mum was complaining to me about how my elder brother threw temper at her for opening his letters without permission and even left them on the dining table. I started questioning her why did she have to do that when she could not even read English. It was definitely intrusion of privacy regardless of relationship, which was very disrespectful. Anyway, she left the letter opened on the messy table, which nobody would bother since that was the temporary graveyard of all unwanted letters.

My mum started packing up the table, which she had told me a few days ago she wanted to do it and dragged till this day. I joined in the “fun” to pack the messy shoes area and realised all of them except me, had many shoes. Those rich brats definitely would have more but considering my house was so small, it was amazing. All of them could never recall the shoes even if I were to dump them away.

There were four rows of spaces, which was just nice for my entire family. I allocated the top to my mum since she could not bend much, and basically the arrangement was in sequence of ages. I joined in other areas and many things were thrown but there were simply too many of them. In between, we had fights with ants and it was in fact one of my hobbies nowadays.

In the end was sweeping and mopping twice the areas from living room till kitchen. With my back problem, it was a tedious job; moreover, I was back from volleyball just a few hours ago. My mum had a special detergent which made the floor smooth and it was satisfying in the end. However, since my mum had been dripping water on the floor throughout, the sweeping process was not very smooth, and thus the mopping process was affected as well. I would probably do my own cleaning again when I was alone at home and wanted to take a break from my work.

Needless to say, the progress of my “Quit Smoking” website was affected badly and I was ashamed of myself for not touching it for the past few days due to volleyball and other distractions.
