Eleven Hours of Sleep

It had been so many years since I had long hours of sleep like eleven hours. Though I woke up a few times in between, it was incredible enough.

Right after midnight, I went to sleep due to the frustration in my mind, as well as the lack of the sleep the night before.

I woke up at eleven plus in the morning, feeling glad that I was able to sleep for long.

The rain celebrated for me to wipe off the haze later on.

Firefox 2

A recommendation from Ah Chang to download Firefox 2 delights me.

Clicking on the “Check for Updates” menu in Firefox 1 does not show updates for Firefox 2 and this is the reason why I do not know about it earlier.

However, please note that Firefox, though accepting standard HTML codes, does not display my websites perfectly; you have to use Internet Explorer. It is my fault for the incapability to script them properly.

Firefox still rules over other browsers.

Haze and smokers

Rain brings haze respite, cleanest air in weeks (url gone!)
The haze is finally dispersing, and in the last couple of days, PSI was much lower. I am now able to view better sceneries and also plan for future journeys.
Die haze, die!
People have been complaining that breathing in the presence of haze is similar to smoking; most people blame the haze on the selfish companies in Indonesia. I agree to them though the assholes might have their own difficulties but this haze problem is bringing out another health issue, which most people have not been protesting enough about.
I want to air out my voice that there are things within our control as humans with brains and conscience; we cannot stop the fire in Indonesia, but we can at least stop smokers from suffocating us in public places.
If you light out a cigarette in public places, you are causing harms to others’ health just like the starters of the haze; you are sinned.
The Indonesians have not enforced their laws well enough to stop the assholes from burning trees, but how about us?
I see lifts bearing “No Smoking” signs but I smell smoke; I know air-conditioned places are not allowed to smoke but I still smell smoke inside at times.
Laws are imposed, but are the enforcers able to carry them out?

Ivan’s Birthday 2006

[Monday, 23 October, 2006]

For about a week I screwed up my life. There was extra job of calling and coordinating things just for the sake of a present.

I called up a few persons as requested by Gilbert, who did the rest of the job. However, not everyone was really cooperative and we went on with some problems, and in the end decided to just drop the idea.

Peh, Gilbert, Ah Boon, Lim and I decided to get a smaller present for Ivan by ourselves. In the end, the coordinating of the time and place got me into another rage of frustration.

Finally, only Gilbert, Lim and I turned up for the dinner.

Chinatown – Walking to meet up with Lim at Maxwell Food Centre

I met up with Gilbert and Ivan soon arrived at Lucky Chinatown to join us. Then, we walked over to Maxwell Market to meet up with Lim, who did not pick up my call after more than five times. He got a little lost of the way and eventually joined up with us.

Gilbert

As Peh had expected, Gilbert decided to change the place for dinner. We gave in to him and travelled over to the Hans’.

The fish and chip was not really nice and I was delayed that I had only finished half of the food after everyone had finished their meals. Everyone was amazed when I declared Gilbert had spent like one and a half hour to wrap the present up. His “card” had camouflaged with the wrapping that even I could not find it.

After the dinner, we walked over to Clarke Quay and took many pictures before parting at around ten. It was a fun night.

The Twin Towers’ Birthdays

[Saturday, 21 October, 2006]

The Twins Fatty Si and Pretty Yun celebrated their twenty-first birthdays like almost a week earlier. It crashed with the SI ORD celebration held also for Ivan’s early twenty-first birthday celebration. However, since there was some miscommunication, I chose not to go over to Rongji’s house instead of rushing over from Chinese Garden to Serangoon.

I wrapped up the presents last minutes for the twins and the results were not satisfying enough. Then I went alone all the way there and managed to find the place easily since it was just besides the swimming complex.

The food

I was feeling quite bored over there since they had so many guests. Then, the met up with someone I had been trying to avoid for years gave me cold sweat.

I was then brought into their room and started looking at the albums half consisting of animals. Peiyun brought her friends in later and I felt weird with all the strangers behind me. Luckily, cake cutting commenced soon.

I had my camera with me but was too awkward to take it out since I did not know their guests. Some of them took out their mobile phone to take pictures and I felt it was quite silly; but of course I guessed the phones were quite good.

Since there was no date after that, I stayed behind to chill up with them.

The arrival of Bernard lightened me up. He accompanied me and later on I helped him to find a new “girlfriend” on the spot.

The couple

I told Peiling that Bernard wanted to take a photo with her and told Bernard the opposite. I sacrificed myself as the bad guy for Bernard and nobody would ever do such kind deed.

The hungry girl

I left the place at around ten.

My First Birthday Present For Year 2006

[Monday, 23 October, 2006]

Watch

I got my earliest birthday present for this year from my younger brother. He bought a super “chio” watch from City Chain.

He says I have to wear a presentable watch when I go to work but it is so expensive and meaningful that I do not really dare to wear it.

It costs more than a hundred dollars and seriously, we do not give each other such expensive present before, not even more than fifty bucks.

Now that his bank is drained, I am feeling guilty.

Drama – If You Care

Channel 8 broadcasted an old but meaningful show again. This romance comedy “贱精先生” (If You Care …) was led by 陈奕迅 (Eason Chen) and 钟欣桐 (Gillian Chung from Twins). Though I missed the opening previously at Channel U, I found the characters quite familiar and decided to go by my luck at 1.30am.

Eason and Gillian were childhood friends in a village who were separated later on. Gillian fulfilled their dreams of becoming a firefighter but Eason was influenced by the City life, became a famous interior designer who had forgone everything for the sake of money.
This selfish and sly guy met an accident one night and he got a weird hand which would let him feel the pain and thought of anyone he touched. At the same time, he reconciled with Gillian. Through experiences, he finally became a good man.
The song of the show was 十年 (Ten Years) by Eason Chen himself, which was a very popular song quite a few years ago.

Eason’s shows always captivate my interest, and together with his song, they give good entertainment, reflection and motivation. Such nice old dramas are always worth going through again.
