Accompanied Mum for Eyes Check-up

[Thursday, 7 October, 2010]

As usual, I started my day working on the website and slept at 5am. I woke up as early as 7am to accompany my mum to the National Eye Centre for free check-up. I brought my laptop along since I knew it was going to be a long day. I sat there along working on the CMS for my website but there was a silly issue that wasted lots of time – the MySQL Query Browser did not store my data properly and I thought it was due to the coding that caused me unable to login. I dozed off occasionally a couple of times there.

After reaching home at around noon, I dozed off without eating anything as I was too exhausted from the lack of sleep for the past two nights. All the construction work next door was unable to wake me up.

It was after 4pm, I woke up to continue with my website. Having dinner at 9pm, my brothers brought Lucky down for a walk and came back before I went down to join them. I continued working on my website.

Firman’s Convocation and Wanling Met Lucky

[Wednesday, 6 October, 2010]

I spent some time after midnight asking Kachua and Joceyln to test my website. I went to bed at 5am eventually. Lucky refused to sleep and it was difficult to doze off as my mum would start screaming whenever he went near her.

I woke up before 7am and waited nearly half an hour for bus 75. It was ridiculous for the bus to take so long to arrive where the bus-stop was crowded with irritated faces. I regretted not leaving my house earlier or to take the train instead. It started pouring on the way to slow me down. Firman was worried throughout but I was very certain that everything was going to be fine since I had experienced convocation at SIM campus before.

I was right that I was still early even though the stated time was up. I took my time to go to the toilet to release myself but regretted not going in earlier since I could have taken a seat nearer to the stage for better shooting of pictures when Firman went up. Anyway, being at convocation ceremony was one of the things I hated most for the long speeches.

After it ended, we went down for phototaking. I was expecting more friends of him to be there but his classmates were not very “happening” and some had left early for group photos. I followed him around and missed taking food from the tables. I got hungry and had a little gastric pain. In the end, I took bus with him and his parents to Dover where we transited to train.

I went to Bianhong’s mum working place at the coffee shop. She was too busy to entertain the customer at the counter to see me. After standing there for very long, I left for home. Since I had asked Wanling to have lunch with me as I thought she would be coming down soon, I took only a small slice of mooncake.

It was almost 3pm when I went down to find Bianhong’s mum again. After passing her the thumbdrive to return to Bianhong, she treated me two packets of chicken rice. I went down to the MRT station to meet Wanling and we had our chicken rice at the hawker centre, followed by a bowl of ice-kachang.

Since Wanling could not find her kite, we called off the plan to go to the Marina Barrage and instead, we went straight to my house to play with Lucky. Lucky hit off well with her soon and he even scratched her as he got hyperactive. Together with my younger brother, we played for quite long and I got so tired since I had slept for less than three hours, and eventually dozed off inside the bedroom.

My mum, Wanling and I had dinner together after my brothers had their. My mum was asking questions and then she caused some embarrassment when she asked why we were together only now after knowing for so many years. It was a different case for my younger brother for my mum would never mistake his female friends as his girlfriend. Anyway, we quickly clarified with her.

After the dinner, we went down to get batteries before joining my brothers at the second storey for a while as they were playing with Lucky. I sent Wanling home soon. I tried contacting Gilbert since he was staying nearby and he thought we were together as well. We had good chats along the way and it was peaceful after alighting from the MRT station, walking towards her house. We stopped by the 7-11 store and grabbed two bottles of milk tea.

When I was crossing over to my house, someone called me and I was surprised that it was Tommy whom I met at MediaCorp years ago. I could not believe it that he could still remember me. I walked him to the MRT station as we chatted. I loved talking to him even though we did not chat often online.

Facebook Account Down

[Tuesday, 5 October, 2010]

I was totally engrossed in the website and went to sleep at 8am. I woke up after 2pm.

It was a rather weird day.

I was on my laptop in the living room when I heard a girl’s voice saying “I’m scared of dogs”. Soon, a girl walked past and dropped a flyer for a community project. I was stunned when I saw the elegant girl in her white top, looking sweet and simple. I could not help but to feel lucky.

I took Lucky down to the gym with my thumbdrive but I could see A4 size posters at the new gym before I went up and I knew I had wasted my effort. I tried to keep Lucky as close to me as possible in case he started peeing around.

After reaching home, I was horrified to realise that my Facebook account was disabled. With my connections lost, it was difficult to start advertising when my new site was going to be up soon.

Anyway, I spent the night continuing with my website. We did not bring Lucky down for a walk since I had already brought him down earlier to the gym.

Mum Woke Me Up

[Monday, 4 October, 2010]

I was working on the website and eventually went to bed at 5am with Lucky. My mum woke up me at 9am when she tried hard to get Lucky to go to pee on the newspaper in case he created a mess later. I was deeply annoyed for most of the time, it was due to her that I was being disrupted from my sleep.

I woke up at 2pm. I spent some time planning for the gym’s notification for the expansion. I was not sure what poster size did Bobby want but I realise doing it on PowerPoint was an easy design job.

I continued working on my website for the day until my brothers and I brought Lucky down for a walk earlier than usual.

Good Feast at Chinatown Complex

[Sunday, 3 October, 2010]

I had another tough night working on my new website. For the second time, I slept with Lucky at the living room’s floor on straw mat at 6am. My younger brother returned at 9am from his German friends’ hotel. Then I went into the bedroom to sleep and Lucky joined me.

I had lunch with my brothers and elder brother’s girlfriend at Maxwell Food Centre and we brought Lucky along. I was not sure what to eat since taking the two dollar value noodle too often was not a good choice. In the end, I went to the curry chicken rice stall to get some expensive mixed vegetable rice for my younger brother and I.

After lunch, we took Lucky to the third storey to play at the playground. My elder brother bathed Lucky after we went back and I started working on my website again.

At night, the entire family had dinner at Chinatown Complex. We ordered satays, sting ray, vegetable, fish head and xiao long bao. We also had cheap guava juice, lychee drinks and dessert. We shopped a while at CK departmental stall before we hurried home to feed Lucky. He had his dinner at 9pm for the first time. We were not very worried since he often dragged his dinner.

The Weird Last-Minute Wedding Invitation

[Saturday, 2 October, 2010]

Lucky peed on his cushion and blanket and caused frustration in all of us. My mum left him inside the kitchen but I got him into the living room and accompanied him to sleep on the floor. He was, however, hyperactive and refused to go to sleep. My elder brother woke up and started entertaining him a bit before he went back to sleep again. I dozed off for a while and eventually went into the bedroom in the morning when the rest of them were up.

I woke up before noon but lazed around for some time before going down to the gym to meet Bobby. Since he told me that he would be available between 11am and 12pm, I did not take my brunch. He wanted me to help him with photo editing and it was a tedious job at the gym without a proper table. After that, I went down to see the new shop with him and Dan, and it was cool to know that they were expanding it downwards. Bobby wanted to catch a bite before his next training session and he decided to try the Keen on Crepes nearby, which I advised him not to. We had a long wait and I knew I was right about the taste.

After reaching home, I started working on my website and purchased a new domain name. My elder brother went to Vivocity with his girlfriend and I skipped it since I was busy and my mum did not want to go.

I had a frustrating night for my mum was bothering me with stories and Lucky’s poo. I was excited to see the movie “seven swords” on channel 8 but my primary school friend’s mum came over to deliver his wedding invitation card. She came in and sat to talk with my mum and I totally lost track of the great movie’s happening.

I found it so weird that his mum was the one delivering it down personally at late hour and made me write my name on the card for myself. She was also trying to get contacts of the other primary schoolmates. Usually, friends would call or drop a message online to invite before they officially prepare the wedding invitation card and I found it extremely uncomfortable to engage it face to face where I was kind of being forced to go without room for consideration. What bothered me were the time and travelling distance over to Pasir Ris and it was a church wedding. Moreover, I could not do other planning for my Saturday anymore.

No Nap because of Neighbour

[Friday, 1 October, 2010]

While catching the first few episodes of my favourite show about “Liu Bo Wen” online, I blogged. Eventually I went to sleep at 8am.

I woke up at 2pm. My elder brother went down to walk the dog and I was too sleepy to join him. However, it was just minutes after they left the house, my neighbour woke me up to help her to adjust her television, which my brothers had done for her the night before. Since I hardly get to touch the SCV’s remote control and that it was a different set from my house’s I was helpless.

In the evening, I went to the gym and had a chat with Andrew. It was again, the one and only time I went for workout for the week.

After finishing my dinner, I continued working with my website but the progress was put to halt when my brothers decided to walk the dog earlier than usual. I had fun playing with the scooter. We went home for the Taiwanese show after 11pm.

Voluntary Work at Sarah Home Centre

[Thursday, 30 September, 2010]

I began the day watching show with my elder brother, followed by the soccer match between Man Utd and Valencia. I thought I would doze off halfway but I did not. I went to sleep at 5am but it took me some time to knock out.

Waking up before 7am, I lazed around and decided to give up sleeping for another half an hour. Since it was early, I decided to meet Huiting and her friends at Tiong Bahru instead of taking direct buses over to Bukit Merah. It was warm inside the coffee shop as I waited for them to finish their breakfast before setting off. We took bus 195 over to block 105 and went for home visiting to distribute some of the buns bought by Huiting to the old residents. After that, we went to the Sarah home centre at level 2 of block 105 before we left to distribute the remaining of the food.

We had a short meeting at the centre before we left in four groups of two. I partnered with Dexuan and we faced some suspicious old people. We were supposed to help Sarah home to do some reregistering of their members and also to conduct a short survey. Starting off was difficult for we were not totally sure of the form. Halfway through, we changed partners due to language problem and I stayed inside an auntie’s house for around forty-five minutes to get the form filled while listening to her long stories.

Someone from the centre bought lunch for us and I was sure each packet cost more than three bucks for there were four or more dishes inside. The two volunteers, Yuqing and Hwee Ping, I engaged through Facebook arrived at around 2pm and 3pm, and brought a friend each. We continued the voluntary work till 5.30pm. My back was aching, my brain was exhausted and I could hardly speak anymore.

It was a good experience interacting with the kind and chatty old folks but it was quite sad to know about dark stories of Singapore through them. Apart from hearing from many old folks about bad things regarding the centre that stopped them from joining the activities, it was a good day.

It was actually a good chance to see Huiting home so that we could chat during the journey but I held back again in case of misunderstanding. It was such a waste since we had been communicating regarding charity work only.

After reaching home, I fed Lucky and later, had my dinner. Soon, I was too tired to keep myself conscious anymore. My brothers took Lucky down for a walk and I did not join in.

Bobby’s Birthday Treat

[Wednesday, 29 September, 2010]

I spent the morning catching my show until 4am. I woke up at noon but dozed off again until 2pm.

While continuing to catch my show, I made progress in my website.

In the evening, Bobby got me down to the gym earlier to meet up with the rest of his friends for dinner at the Chinese restaurant near the gym. It was his birthday treat, which kept me troubled for a few days over what I could get for him. It was difficult for a poor person to get anything for a very well-to-do person who had never ever looked at price for food in his entire life; his young daughter could have spent much more than me on food in total even though I was probably three times her age. Being a poor blockhead, I decided that I would just help him with his work.

The dinner was not really fantastic to me since I did not really appreciate the very traditional North China food. The waiter was wearing home clothes and what amazed me was his shorts. My seat was not very good and thus I did not talk a lot since I was sitting apart from Le Tian and Andrew, while Tze Khit was in Australia.

Soon after reaching home, my brothers were ready to go down to walk the dog. We brought the waveboard and scooter along. It was the second time I tried playing with the scooter even though it was in my house for donkey years already. I tried it more than ten years ago at Bianhong’s house and since it was movement was restricted, I gave up soon and his two cute sisters mocked at me. Anyway, I got a good hand of it soon.

My mum joined us after her work and we went home together.

Flu again after Swim

[Tuesday, 28 September, 2010]

I began the day engrossed in my Chinese show, which I caught at Tudou. I went to sleep at 6am with Lucky. He shared my mattress for the first time. I woke up eventually after 2pm.

My younger brother gave a last minute notice for a swim and luckily my stomach was in a better condition that despite having my meal a couple of hours before the swim, I did not feel as bad as in the past. After the swim, flu caught me again.

My brothers and I went down to walk the dog again. We spent most of the time at storey two, right opposite my mum’s workplace, where my younger brother played with his waveboard. I was busy sneezing.
