Designing Corporate Website

[Saturday, 8 May, 2010]

I continued my work on web design in my cough and backache. I did not sleep early as usual.

It was a very boring Saturday afternoon and everyone seemed to be too busy for me. I wanted to catch a swim but I hated to go to the pool by myself because of the travelling. Gilbert gave me a negative reply on my new design and I decided to get rid of the old concept in order to solve the limitation of revamping. However, I started dozing off in my terrible back pain.

I had a chat with Wanling in MSN and I realised she had graduated. I could have hanged out with her all these while to kill my boredom of mugging in front of the laptop daily. However, she told me she would be flying off to Japan together with her family.

It started raining for a while and the weather was a bit cooler than usual. However, the temperature did not wish to maintain at its best. I made a breakthrough in my web design for the sCreative site but putting the design into webpage was time-consuming and problematic, especially when I had to debug the code for the sake of the Internet Explorer – it was a nuisance for not following the standard HTML format.

My mum was waiting for me to go down for my jog so that she could tag along but to do some walking instead. I was too enthusiastic on the web development that I decided to give it a miss since jogging might instigate a sharp pain in my lower back in my condition.

Skype with Caiping and Peiyun

[Friday, 7 May, 2010]

It was a good morning chatting with Caiping through Skype for she was asking me questions regarding her project and she needed to show me her desktop. It was the first time I used Skype after installing it a few days ago. After that, Peiyun messaged me as well but we did not chat for long for I woke up my up a couple of time and that the network did not seem to be stable. In the midst of all the chats, I was busy improving SmokeForWhat and also updating my jokes site.

I woke up late and dozed off many times in the warm weather after eating the nasi lemak bought by my mum. I tried hard to work on the sCreative website again but the lack of inspiration put me to sleep many times. It was an ultimate boring day.

I went for a late night jog at the third storey at around 11pm and rushed home to catch my Korean show at channel U. My timing for the jog was 14 minutes 42 seconds and I realised I should never jog right after going to the toilet.

Blogger’s Stupid Bot

A programmed bot sometimes does stupid things like having false detection. It simply detects one of my blogs to display popular youtube videos as spam blog and disables it. During the interval of waiting for their staffs to check on it manually, I wonder how much traffic I would lose.

I’m beginning to wonder again how much trust I should put into Blogger in future.

Visiting ITE and Collecting my Degree Certificate

[Thursday, 6 May, 2010]

I tried my best to sleep early at 2am since I wanted to get up early to get my certification at SIM in the early morning before going back to ITE for visiting. As usual, it took me quite some time to doze off. My brother and his girlfriend left for Thailand in the midst of my sleep.

Having a second thought I decided to go to ITE first since I wanted to get my ex-colleagues the famous muffin from the shop downstairs my place and it would be too heavy to carry all the way to SIM. I got twenty-four pieces of them to make the journey was tougher with the loads. My mum had also surprised me with breakfast.

I went to find Mr Peh but he was not around. I met Diana just when I got up to the third level to brighten up my day. Then, I went into the almost empty staff room. I had a chat with Joy and Hirman came back after some time. I was commented as weird since I had not gotten myself a job and yet I spent money to buy muffins for them – I somehow had the same question in my mind. After passing the muffins to them, I quickly went down to meet up with Evangeline but she had already finished her lunch. I got her to return my grass jelly drinks and I was so proud and showed it off to all the passers-by. It was not about it being free. I rejected Joy, Weitat and Afni’s lunch invitation while Hirman was already at the “duck place” waiting for us.

After Evangeline and all her classmates went for class, I went to the lab with Jonathan for a while before we went to the staff room. After some chitchatting around, I went to Hirman’s desk to get Iylia’s photos so that I could pass to Lijun. Then, I took quite very long to burn the old photos for Hirman while chatting with Diana. In the end, somehow the disc was spoiled.

I borrowed Joei’s external harddisk and transferred the photos into it. I went to the administration office with Joy to settle her student’s bursary stuff and before going to find Weitat. Then, I returned Joei the money for Magdalene’s birthday before joining Hirman at the iDelite Mastery room.

I was totally impressed with Hirman for he did recording impressively for his lessons for the next week as he was going for reservist. He was the most inspiring lecturer I had ever met and the greatest gain of my stay in ITE was to get to know him. If only I had gotten into close contact with him two years ago, I could have changed more students’ mindsets to inspire them more. Now that I would only hope that I could be inspired by his drive more with all interaction whenever available in all the meet-up.

He was almost ruined after preparing a few lessons and we knocked off. I took all the stuffs to his car as he went up to return the keys. Later, Grace, Cynthia and Joei came down together with Hirman and he sent them to the carpark near MRT station before going to SIM to collect my certificate.

Instead of making a U-turn, we took Bukit Timah Road and it was a regret for we made a wrong turn near Steven Road later to go to Orchard Road and passed by two ERPs in the jam. It was a good chance to chat with him and the companion was the main thing, not the convenience. He dropped me opposite Raffles City. Instead of taking bus 167 at the bus-stop nearby or train at Cityhall MRT, I walked over to take bus 145.

The Two Weeks were so Tempting

[Wednesday, 5 May, 2010]

I began the first second of the day at Hirman’s place. We went through the camp’s photos together in his slow running ITE laptop after he finished doing some work.

I had my laptop with me and I spent the time updating my blog while chatting with Caiping over the webcam. My battery died on me finally before 2am, just after I finished two blog entries. I had a hard time sleeping besides the snoring man with the weird Mitsubishi air-conditioner that seemed to work like an old dying man. Hirman woke up a few times as well. It took me some tries to find out how to operate it and then dozing off after 3am.

I woke Hirman up at 6.30am. He washed up and prepared his clothes fast to set off and I was quite stunned by his speed; I usually woke up to laze around on the bed. He sent me to my place before he went to work. At the beginning of the journey, I saw very great scenery of the morning sky opposite the SAF Ferry Terminal.

The first thing I did when I reached home was to set up my laptop. Sharon called me at around 9am to request me to go back to ITE to take over William Tan for two weeks as he was going for reservist. I was quite tempted and was distracted over it for the entire day. It was a very good chance to interrupt with the cute year one students and I could really try to do something to change some of their lives like what Hirman had been doing. I sought advices from many people and the last reason to decline the offer was my initial hesitation.

Weitat’s Advance Birthday Celebration

[Tuesday, 4 May, 2010]

I slept after 4am again but this time, I woke up much earlier at 10am, feeling that I should be doing something worthy instead of slogging endlessly over my websites with little progress. However, I dozed off again before I could do much work.

Gilbert’s sudden SMS to inform me that he would pick up his camera from me in the evening was a challenge to me since my ex colleagues and I were going to celebrate Weitat’s birthday in advance. I quickly called him and he told me he did not take MC again despite he was still sick.

Jenne called me in the late afternoon to tell me that she would be going to town from Choa Chu Kang and arranged to pick me up. We decided to buy Weitat’s cake at Amara Hotel. I quickly took my shower and also burned the photos taken during the orientation camp into a CD for Hirman before I set off to meet Gilbert at the entrance of South Point. We were chitchatting away happily until Jenne rang me up and I rushed off to the Amara Hotel to meet her. We chose a chocolate cake and the lady told us we had to wait. We burst into laughers in amazement when she answered us that we had to wait for simply ten minutes.

After getting the cake, we went straight to the Wine Company besides the old NIE. Hirman was sitting alone and he had already finished his dinner with a glass of red wine on the table. The DSLR camera he placed on the table captured my interest. Both of them thought I would be able to operate it easily, however, I was in fact a newbie to expensive gadgets. I ordered a plate of fish and chips and the serving took more than forty-five minutes to come, inclusive of a reminder. Sadly, it did not taste good. The chicken wings were quite well done though and the Champaign was awesome.

Weitat, Joei and Magdalene arrived after 7pm. The last to reach was Zaki. By then, I already had a better understanding of Hirman’s five-years-old DSLR camera, given by his friend. It was a very cosy night except that mosquitoes were having a big feast as well. On the other hand, both Hirman and I seemed to be completely safe. The hottest topic was the student being possessed and all the horror stories disturbed Hirman badly. It was a fantastic dinner with the few of my greatest pals.

Hirman sent me home. I quickly got changed and grabbed my laptop before joining him at the carpark. Then, we started the long journey to his temporary rented place at Changi Village. It would be my greatest regret if I had rejected his invitation for it was a cool Terrance house owned by LTA. There were a small living room, a bedroom, a kitchen and a bathroom, and it was as good as a chalet. The only problem was that there was no television and I had to give my favourite show on channel U a miss.

In fact, I was quite worried about my mum since my younger brother was already not at home and my presence at home would be more comforting.
