Met the Greedy Witch while Walking the Dog

[Monday, 27 September, 2010]

I slept at 4am and woke up at around noon. The wall’s clock inside the room was lagging by an hour and I thought I had made an achievement of waking up before noon.

I took the afternoon to blog and work on the website. I was too engrossed that I missed my favourite show “Liu Bo Wen” and thus I started searching for it online. The story was based on China’s Ming dynasty when the descendants of the Yuan Empire wanted to overturn the new kingdom to revive their Mongolians’ pride and glory. It was more interesting than the modern days’ detective stories.

At night, my brothers and I went down to walk the dog. My younger brother brought his new Waveboard along. Unfortunately, we met Lulu at the third storey and she talked to my brothers, and asked them to view her two Jack Russell. My younger brother had long forgotten how cunning this lady was as it was some time ago when I told him about how money-minded she could get. They followed her to see the dogs and I went home soon since I did not want to waste my time waiting alone.

It was a weird world where some people could be two-hearted – kind to animals and yet scheming against innocent parties for money.

Lantern Festival Dinner

[Saturday, 25 September, 2010]

Since my elder brother and I had early dinner hours ago, we were hungry and decided to go to the MacDonald’s. My mum and younger brother did not want to eat but they tagged along with Lucky. It was a pity that we could not bring Lucky into the restaurant.

I slept at 4am and woke up after 1pm. My lunch was noodle. I tried to work on my website but ended up dozing off.

It was a special evening. My aunt came over and the entire family, together with my younger brother’s friends, went for the Lantern Festival Dinner held by the Tanjong Pagar Community Centre. My mum was furious that when she attended it a year ago with my brother, one of the aunties who shared the same table tried to take other people’s portion and thus she made sure that we had ten people to fill the table.

The food was great but the caterer was stingy with the drinks. Even when my cup was only one-fifth filled, the waitress tried to put in ice cubes to fill it. Most of the time, my orange was diluted. Later, we got to know that they were running out of the drinks and “their boss was going to purchase it”. We did have our refills later but the service was not fast enough.

There was a Chinese character guessing game like the previous years and we got six answers correct at one go, and decided to give up the other fourteen prizes to others. However, there were some leftover questions and thus the lady asked my younger brother to go over to finish them up.

After reaching home, we realised Lucky had given us presents while we were gone. We cleaned up the poo and two piles of pee before my younger brother and his friends went down to the third storey to play lanterns.

Disappointing Last Day of Kayaking One Star Course

[Friday, 24 September, 2010]

My younger brother, mum and I took Lucky down for a walk without my elder brother. I continued working on my website and gave up at around 3.30am.

I woke up at 8.30am and slowly got started to wash up before leaving the house with my brothers. We went to the same bus-stop near Anson building, right opposite M Hotel, but my younger brother and I boarded the bus 70 without my elder brother since he was going to Parkway Parade to meet his friend for fishing. I was stunned to remember that there was road diverse nearby because of the F1 Singapore Night Race 2010. The bus turned to People’s Park and the traffic was heavy. It was supposed to be a straight road towards Nicoll Highway and I was sure that we took more than double the actual travel time to reach the place.

The coach, Kelvin, reached later than us. Four others did not turn up and thus our team was left with six of us. When Kelvin told us of the plan for the day that we would not be kayaking over to Marina Barrage, we were all disappointed. During the capsize and rescue practice, we were all determined to travel over but the sudden downpour of rain sided with Kelvin. We ended the course ridiculously early and then Kelvin started to tell us stories to drag on before we left the Kallang Water Sports Centre and took bus 16. I had lunch with my younger brother, together with Kun Song and Rong Sheng at Suntec City before we headed home.

My younger brother and I took bus 196 home and we were both very disappointed that we did not get to kayak over to Marina Barrage, having paid so much for the course and yet the time spent inside the water was almost half of the original programme. We knew well we were short-changed even though we managed to learn the skill required. We reached home at around 4pm. After my younger brother left the house, I dozed off for around an hour before my mum started chanting to wake me up before she left the house. I went to Maxwell food centre with my elder brother and Lucky for dinner.

I spent the rest of the time continuing with my website.

Boring Day with Website

[Thursday, 23 September, 2010]

Thursday was one of the most boring days ever. I continued working on my website and slept at 5am. Working alone on the entire website including researching was really killing.

I woke up at 1pm but my head was sleepy throughout. I dozed off a few times and the rest of the time was spent working on the site. At least, I was glad to see a little visible result.

Awful Rice for Dinner

[Wednesday, 22 September, 2010]

I went to bed at around 4am and woke up at 10am. My brothers and I had breakfast at the coffee shop “103” with Lucky. After reaching home, I dozed off and eventually woke up at 2pm.

After working with the website, I went to the gym at around 6pm. It was pretty difficult to keep up with even going there once a week. Hong Liang came over to my place and thus I left with him since he was on the way.

This time, Le Tian and Andrew were around. Andrew’s cheerfulness about his bodybuilding result did not die off and he spread the fun over the gym. His announcement of a new business put me down for I knew I was too far behind.

I had a very bad dinner for my mum did not start the rice cooker in the afternoon and thus the rice was badly soaked. It tasted really awful but it was a lesson about food for me. It reminded me of the rice taken during the ITE Clementi’s first orientation camp during January.

I spent the night working on the website.

Disgusting Provoking Uncle to Test Friendship

[Tuesday, 21 September, 2010]

I was working on the website inside the bedroom and eventually gave up after 3am.

I worked up at around 1pm and started clearing spams in Facebook. After slacking for some time, I continued with the website. Tze Khit forwarded me an email in the evening and I started working on his website. I was quite turned off by the bank’s salesman again for he originally asked for three new pages and it turned out that he needed five. I was really unimpressed by his service since day one when he emailed crappy instructions.

It was an expected bad night for me when I saw a reply in Facebook on Fenfen’s status. She was ranting about the time and money wasted on cab to get to her school. On my second and last reply to ask her to chill and followed by a joke that I would get Lucky to lick her, an uncle replied saying something like “girl who is that guy? i do not like his comment”.

He knew well that by replying to the status, I would be able to read it, unless he was really a fool. I was disgusted by his open challenge. Even a kid could tell that I was on good intention to Fenfen by asking her to calm down, explaining to her that it was usual to be late for night classes due to work and that I even tried to lighten her up by joking that I would get my dog, which she agreed was cute, to lick her. Even if I replaced “Lucky” with the most disgusting guy on earth, everyone could see that I was being humorous.

I was not sure which part of his brain had gone wrong to take offence of my words, but he was definitely someone with attitude problem and trying too hard to show off his manliness. There were two ways a normal person would react if he found anything wrong: first was to drop the “victim” a private message to find out more before making an open move; next was to sound out directly instead of crying to the “victim” in front of everyone.

Even though it was an incident happening online, in the virtual world, it was almost identical to three persons facing each other in real person. If someone stood in front of your friend and started pointing at you, asking your friend who you were and exclaimed that he did not like you, what would you think of him?

I could see that that guy was married with kids and as either be her relative or colleague, and probably not her wooer. I did not think this annoying uncle deserved me to pardon him in case he thought I was scared of his ignorant remarks. Without losing my calm, I replied, “Hi Fenfen, who is that guy? I do not think he is respecting you by trying to provoke your friend.” I knew I was being very kind to her by refraining myself to use awful words such as “uncle” to not put her in a tight situation and that the simple line certainly put that nothing-better-to-do troublemaker in shame. He did not reply.

However, a few hours later, the test of true friendship concluded. She deleted away that guy’s provoking reply and added “He’s my uncle, any problem?”

I knew that she certainly had a smarter brain than that uncle of hers to see a clear picture of everything and that since years ago when we got to know each other, we had been joking hard with each other. But the attitude she replied with was more than enough to pierce a friend who was trying hard to be nice to her. I did nothing wrong in the first place and even the follow-up, but she sounded “in front of everyone” that I was in the wrong.

So what if that moron was her uncle? Did that buy him the right to start provoking her friends just because he was too free?

It was a night that I revised my lessons again, recapping that being too outgoing could easily draw envious from losers who would want to put you down in order to appear good in front of others. I saw how shallow friendship could get when family ties worth much higher that even a wrongdoing could appear correct. I knew some friends were just virtual friends who would chat with you when they were bored and nothing more.

Lucky Became Naughtier

[Monday, 20 September, 2010]

I spent some time on blogging. When I was about to go to sleep at 5am, Lucky peed on the floor again. I was so furious that I did not let him into the room to sleep with me for the first time.

I woke up at around 2pm. Finally I made my way down to the UOB bank for they wanted me to replace my UOB mini visa card and I wanted to change my signature to a more complicated one. I realised it was a separated procedure. It was quite a chore for the teller to get my signature changed. It was around 4pm and they had placed the “Closed” signboard at the door.

I concentrated on my new website after that.

Lucky pissed me off badly again by peeing on the floor when he already knew that he had to do it on the newspaper. I brought his cushion out of the room to show my determination of not sleeping with him again. After my brothers and I brought him down for a walk, he peed on the cushion.

Shop for Dog Food at Great World City

I slept after 1am but the backache prevented me from dozing off. I tossed around and arched my back in both forward and backward positions. I was not sure what time I fell asleep. Nevertheless, I woke up after 8am and soon, received an SMS from Derong to say that Kelvin was having diarrhoea and the kayak course had to be postponed to Friday. My younger brother and I went back to sleep after that.

My aunt came over and the whole family went to Ah Moy Food Centre for breakfast and we were lucky enough that the lor mee stall was open. We went home to rest to prepare to go to Serangoon where my elder brother heard there were many pet shops for we needed to get better food for Lucky. I climbed up to my younger brother’s bed to sleep since he dozed off on mine while my mum and aunt were playing cards on it as well.

It was weird that I did not nap for long. I got up every fifteen minutes though I was very sleepy. Eventually we decided to go to Great World City instead as it was nearer. We went to the pet shop and I had to use my fifty dollar note to intercept when my younger brother was trying to fork the bill. The service of the shop was heaven and hell as compared to the pet shop at Vivocity. After that, we shopped around and I was shocked by the products sold in the Cold Storage for they were really high class. We went to the food court and were impressed by the variety of food, the prices and qualities. I had a plate of lemon chicken rice, which was quite costly at four bucks, but it tasted better than other food court’s serving.

We made it home before 7pm so that Lucky could have his dinner on time. His behaviour worsened as he peed around and even chewed on my mum’s new slippers.

Thye Hua Kwan Charity Show was screening on channel 8 and thus we did not get to see our favourite Taiwanese “Love” show. I was stunned when the guest singer, Jenny, tried to urge Singaporeans to donate more money by saying that we were all richer after the casinos were up. I thought she was trying too hard to show her shallowness.

My brothers and I brought Lucky down for a walk and he successfully climbed up the slide finally.

One Star Kayak Course Day One

[Saturday, 18 September, 2010]

My family went to the prata shop with Lucky. We wanted to packet some prata home but we managed to find an empty table at the outside, and thus we changed our minds. At first, everyone wanted to take a single prata because of the heatiness but we ended up taking two slices each. We went to the ATM machines after the supper. While we were going home, we played catching with Lucky.

I went to bed at 2.30am but could not doze off. The last time I checked my clock was 4am.

I woke up at around 10am and started packing up for the kayak course. My younger brother and I took bus 70 to the stop after Nicoll Highway and walked to Stadium MRT station. It was our virgin visit. I went to the toilet and was shocked that the lock was spoilt, which was too soon for a new MRT station.

After meeting up with most of the people for the kayak course, we walked towards our destination along the highway. The kayak course was beyond my expectation. I thought it would be a short theory before we would get to kayak around, but it was meant to be a more professional one. Since everyone, including the coach, Kelvin, were nice people, my brother and I enjoyed a lot. We started off with some theory before moving off. I met Caiping who was with a group of youngsters and I supposed it was her church event.

I was happy to get to kayak again after many years and it reminded me of the past when my volleyball gang and I went to Sentosa in a huge group. The kayak course included capsizing drill and simple swim test. We got to learn about technique to paddle well. Apart from them, I could never recall all the terms used. The toughest thing was to carry the kayaks. The course ended before 6pm. my brother and I did not shower. We walked to the bus-stop and took bus 196 home.

After reaching home, we hurried to open the toilet’s door as my mum had left Lucky inside after he vomited, peed and pooed continuously to cause dizziness to my mum. She even puked. My younger brother took his shower first and left the house to pick up his friend at the MRT station before he bought Burger King’s meal for my dinner. Together with his friend, we took Lucky down for a walk.

At 11pm, I was dead beat but the channel 8’s Andy Lau’s show about the warring states kept me alive.
