Forgotten my Wallet

[Monday, 15 March, 2010]

Instead of having Monday blue, I settled a for a Monday black. It was one of the rare occasions that I would forget to bring my wallet along. The waiting time for the lift was more than ten minutes with weird people boarding it to waste extra time.

Lunch was together with Weitat and Joy at IMM. After going to both Starhub and M1 shops, we went back to the office. I was wondering if I should get an iPhone since the price had dropped a lot. However, the short battery lifespan and instability continued to bug me.

I did not pay careful attention to the time and just nice, Joy offered to give me a lift to the MRT station. We met Zaki on the way down and he offered to drop me at somewhere near his place, which I turned down since the journey would be longer than taking a train; I would not want to carry a heavy bag over my injured shoulders to walk towards Dhoby Ghaut MRT and having to cross over to change train at Raffles Place.

Soon, I regretted since he would be going over to Bishan soon and that I would not have such chance to chat with him again after that.

Lynn’s Birthday Gathering at Brewerkz

[Sunday, 14 March, 2010]

I woke up in time to catch my favourite show on channel 8 at 11am. It was the last episode of “Plan A”.

It seemed like a long afternoon for blogging. Somehow the clock on my laptop was wrong and I had to adjust an hour earlier, such that the meeting with my ex NP classmates was kind of delayed. The long waiting put me to sleep after stuffing a chocolate into my mouth.

I woke up more than an hour later in shock. I checked my phone and realised Wen Chang had messaged me saying that he had overslept. Eventually he was only late for half an hour, whereas, I doubled his record. Jason won me.

Brewerkz was never my ideal place for dinner. Even though I had been there for a few times with Irwin, my short term memory told me it was a western food restaurant and thus I made a silly and wasted trip up the Central shopping centre.

I had pizza for the second time the week but I preferred that place as a drinking place more.

It was never a comfortable gathering with a few big expensive DSLR cameras around. I kept my small digital camera behind me. I hated the feeling when being asked to comment on the fact that I used to be the one taking photos around during the schooling days and now that others were doing it on my behalf.

I could only admit to myself that photography is an expensive habit.

After the dinner, I was on different way from them after passing by the Central. Missing a bus after the long way, I decided to continue with the walk.

Met up with Irwin

[Saturday, 13 March, 2010]

Irwin finally returned on Friday and I met up with Irwin at Sim Lim Tower. After purchasing his books, we left for a big tour around the building, crossing over traffic junctions to realise we had made a wrong turn each time. Eventually, we got to the correct bus-stop and waited very long for bus 851 to go to Funnan Centre.

There was a mechanical robot car competition and the fact that all the students owned nice laptops made me envy them. We settled down at TCC for coffee before going to the Challenger. After walking around for quite some time, he decided to get a mouse and external harddisk. It was a long moment of relaxation with jokes and opinions.

The Swensen restaurant seemed to be replaced by Pizza Hut and therefore, we decided to hit on KFC. Next, we strolled to Central and rested at the Burger King restaurant. I could not detect any wireless network at all and we tried for quite long to see if there was any problem with my laptop. After giving up, I started showing him my work progress for the new site.

Next, we strolled all the way to my house where he boarded the bus at the bus-stop opposite.

Farewell Lunch for Zaki, Magdalene and Felina

[Friday, 12 March, 2010]

My elder brother was helping me to upgrade my Windows before I dozed off. I woke up in the shock of my life for my files in the data drive were all gone. After some time, I discovered a new created folder inside the data drive and my files were found inside. Copying them out required hours and thus I left the laptop on.

Initially I wanted to visit the Chinese physician but I received an SMS to wreck my plan. It was supposed to be a peaceful Friday, which turned out that I had to do the thing I had most, especially for rotten student who did not appreciate.

Lunch was a bit tight again. It was supposed to be farewell lunch for Magdalene, Zaki and Felina at 11.30am but some people were busy. I went back to the office at noon and they were just about to leave. I took Daniel’s car together with Felina. We met up the rest at Holland Village. It was a comfortable lunch but food was just average. After that, we had ice-cream at Cold Rock and Hagen Das before heading back.

I took the afternoon off from boss because of my eyes. However, by the time I reached home, it was quite late to visit the Chinese physician and I did not want the counter staff to nag at me again. I spent the afternoon resting on the bed.

Last EIP Workshop

[Thursday, 11 March, 2010]

I started the morning with phobia from the previous day. I reached Bukit Batok at my normal timing but Andrew was even earlier to set up everything, however, the headphones were misconnected again. He walked away before the lesson and needless to say, I had to do everything by myself. He returned and left earlier than he mentioned. I felt stupid for someone being sent over to conduct the workshop was just in name, and I had to handle everything by myself, just like the times I was alone. I did not want to blow anything up since it was already my last struggle. Letting down expectation was a comfortable solution and I managed to enjoy myself especially with some of the cute people.

After returning to office with the bulky projector, I quickly went to find Kelvin to sign it in. Next, I had lunch with Cheng Hong in the canteen. We talked about the student counsellors and I was glad that the three ideal students I had in mind after observing throughout the previous orientation camp were all seated into the team.

I had a mixed feeling somehow towards the ending of my contract. My boss and colleagues knew well how bored I was towards staying after more than two years of toleration. My eyes were as tired as the past few days and I could not do much things in the office. I tried to drink more water before my health condition worsened.

I met up with Mingfa at the MPH in the evening. The rest of them arrived slowly for the volleyball game. I did not feel confident at all because of both my shoulders. The thought of the possible dislocation reminded me not to wildly challenge my limit again. The irritation of the pain for these two weeks did worsen my temper.

Volleyball was great without any “black face” around. I did both well and bad at times in my pain but did enjoy myself a lot. Kachua sent me home after that.

Second Trekking at Dairy Farm Nature Park

[Wednesday, 10 March, 2010]

The day started off terribly. It was pouring heavily and my pant got wet during the journey to Bukit Batok. My stomach was rebellious. I was surprised to see that Andrew had set up everything when I arrived, however, the headphones were all plugged in at the wrong slots. I made a dash to the toilet after I cleared up the time bombs.

The lessons started later than usual. I took charge of everything and began with my usual craps. However, I was surprised by the rude girls who eventually made me burst after almost forty-five minutes of tolerance. I lectured them on how to be good human beings based on the teaching materials of customer service. After the break, I let Andrew took over the class since I could not kill my anger. I was very sure that Andrew would never be able to handle them without my earlier lecture to scare them off. He left before noon for me to settle everything by myself.

It was the third day of the week and also the third day my eyes were not listening to my commands. When I started to feel feverish, I realised what had happened to my eyes.

I joined in the trekking at Dairy Farm and we took a different route this time. The quarry side had better scenery. I was quite shocked when I realised I did not charge my camera’s battery after the Pulau Ubin cycling but it did last through the trip. On the return trip, we took the wrong path and entered a private place accidentally, which I thought it was a good accident for the place looked very nice.

I took a lift from Alex after the walk and dropped at Bugis together with Joei and Darni.

Badminton and Volleyball with Injured Left Shoulder

[Tuesday, 9 March, 2010]

I started off my morning with the mosquito bites, waking up earlier than usual.

My dread started again. Early in the morning, I set up everything at Bukit Batok while Weitat was back in Clementi to monitor his students’ examination. It was a good morning somehow since the teachers from Hillgrove who brought their students over were doing their jobs extremely well. I had an enjoyable morning crapping around with the well mannered students.

We went to IMM to meet up with Mei Hoe, Dorothy and Magdalene for lunch at Red Ginger.

In the afternoon, I went to set up two courts for badminton but initially only Joy came down, followed by Mr Baey who had forgotten to bring his short. I had a long warming up with Joy before Mei Hoe arrived to play doubles. Joy left before Deon came in to continue the game. In the end, Mei Hoe stayed behind to accompany me since I had to wait for the volleyball game. We met Daniel on our way to the office to keep my racket and he joined us at the MPH.

Mingfa bought my dinner over. The small packet of chicken rice fitted perfectly into my stomach and the chocolate milkshake from Sweet Talk was another sweet thing Mingfa bought over for me. I forgot to return him the money. Finally, I got to chat with him while waiting for pretty girls to pass by at the canteen but we were both disappointed.

The volleyball game was nice in my struggle with my injured left shoulder. The joint gave me pain whenever I received or set the ball. Nevertheless, it was a good night. Weitat came down to the campus to join us after the game and he sent me home.

Met up with David

[Monday, 8 March, 2010]

I tried to find Josephine to look through my resume but she was too busy. Weitat, Mei Hoe, Dorothy and I had lunch at Swenson at IMM. I preferred the fish at Fish and Co more.

The highlight of the day was the dinner with David. I met him up at Clementi bus-stop, nearest to the MRT station. We went to the restaurant at the T-junction between Clementi Road and Ulu Pandang. We had very long chat and I learned many things from him once again.

Filming for MediaCorp again

[Sunday, 7 March, 2010]

I spent quite some time trying to find out what would a normal Singapore reporter wear for interviewing someone outside the court. Sleeping late, I still managed to wake up on time. However, the guard at the MediaCorp’s Radio Gate told me I had to go in by the main entrance and thus, I had to walk all the way back.

Bringing three extra tops was a wrong choice for the short sleeve shirt and jeans I wore were acceptable. I went to change my pass together with another two part-timers and walked back to the Radio Gate via the external route. The bus was packed and I had an awkward journey sitting in the front besides the assistant producer. We were caught in the traffic jam due to a cycling event at Nicoll Highway.

The filming was quite okay. It was the first time I had my line not being cancelled last minute. However, the actor, Chen Shu Chen, spotted something not so smooth and I had to change the addressing in my line, such that, I made mistakes twice.

Since the second scene was cancelled, I was able to make my way home after ten, such that I was able to catch my favourite show at 11am on channel 8.

It was a sleepy afternoon for me. I sweated while dozing off on the mattress in the humid weather. Uploading the photos taken at Pulau Ubin was one of my main accomplishments of the day. I spent most of the time blogging.

In the evening, my mum wanted to dine outside and thus I joined them at Chinatown. The reason was the day was “san ba fu nu jie” and I felt weird for my mum was never like this before. I was caught surprised when my brothers got a plate of “lao yu sheng” because my mum wanted to have it. We waited very long for our main dish, the fish head. My brothers had bought a plate of prawns from another stall at the price of $12 for simply four prawns. My mum knew I did not like any of the food, went to order from our favourite sting ray stall. The hunger had killed my craving for food and the sting ray was not up to the standard yet again.

After dinner, we made our way to the swanston shop but my younger brother checked out the exchange rate and decided to get some Europe dollars. We queued up in front of the two POSBANK ATM machines where many foreign workers were at. One of the Chinese disgusted me by peeling off the transparent cover on his ATM card and simply threw them on the floor. When my brother tried to withdraw money, the maximum amount allowed was only $400 and he received all $10 notes.

I went out of the building and the two UOB ATM machines pissed me off for they were off duty. Finally, we made our way down to the MRT and but the amount allowed for withdrawal was $400 as well and only $10 notes were given. The UOB ATM machine was on strike as well and luckily, I went to the OCBC one to get it done.
