Updating of Photos and New Site

[Friday, 12 January, 2007]

Even though I was spared from the nine plus morning call, a ten plus one woke me up from the lack of sleep. I had dozed off right after my mum nagged me to finish a cup of milo at two plus, but that did not cover my lack of sleep from the day before.

I lived the day with fears of phone again. I managed to update the uncompleted property website with the latest four flats with pictures, at the same time, updated my blog with those photos I “owed”.

The time spent was quite efficient. However, the scripting part for the new website troubled me a lot. I realised there was a need to change my initial idea with the increment of contents.

At night, Yaozhong came online to release some of my stress with his free service to design images. Perhaps, I must be suffering from the designer-block again, probably due to the stress of using PHP. I had to overcome myself.

Since the designing of images would be more or less helped by Yaozhong, I should be concentrating on the design of the site’s programming.

Advertisement for Four Flats

My inspirations kept me awaken till near dawn. I thought I would probably wake up around noon like usual but I was pulled out of my bed by a phone call. Then I realised Kelly had advertised on this day. I told the agent I would get back to her but eventually I forgot to.

I made a call to Mingfa but he only picked it up at my second attempt almost half an hour later. Through him, I could not find enough clues. Then I called Kelly directly and she told me she had advertised for all the four flats together using hers and mine numbers. That was a shock of my life for I did not even know the asking price for all the flats. The worst thing was the fear of phone calls that I did not even dare to step into the toilet in case someone wanted to check it out.

Basically, I could not remember all the details and when people asked about the flats, I had to rely so much on the notebook. However, some people still continued to call up and ask for Lorong Ah Soo block 129, which was waste of my time. There were a number of wasted calls other than the sold flat for either the flats were too low or they were JTC properties.

I got this call from an ERA agent, Edmund, who used to be in EM services. He shared with me how he used to handle JTC properties and the reasons why he left the company. His judgements of the Ang Mo Kio flat had injected confidence into me that it could be easily be sold.

The main problem with the day was of course the phone calls. My brain was basically half dead and it could not function properly with the lack of sleep. The entire day was basically wasted on the bed while attending to the calls before I could doze off.

In the afternoon, Yaozhong finally started to help me to design my uncompleted property website. I managed to update the inventories for another two flats, which left the fourth one together with the latter three flats’ photos.

At the same time, I received a call from a polite lady called “Lily” and eventually we agreed to meet up to view the flat at Ang Mo Kio. She claimed that I was very happy-go-lucky and I was so glad with it. And also, there was an appointment at Bedok for both flats with an agent called Raymond, which I told him Kelly would be attending to him since I could not get there on time. It was the rain’s fault anyway that Kelly could not give me a lift.

I left house at around 6pm and when I had reached Dhoby Ghuat MRT, Kelly called to inform me that Lily had cancelled the appointment due to heavy rain. So, I took the opposite train to Cityhall and straight down to Bedok.

I went to block 204’s coffee shop to have my dinner. I finally took western food but had the chicken cutlet rice for $3.50 instead. The taste was quite special and when I first sliced the edge of it, I felt it was well done. However, the part slightly further away from the circumference was covered with fats.

Kelly arrived quite long later due to the rain and she probably travelled at most 50km/h. She did not see me at the coffee shop and went up herself. We took bus 17 to block 102 after switching on the lights for block 204. She got herself a can of drinks at the nearby coffee shop and we waited at the void deck until 9pm before we went up to prepare everything.

I called Raymond at 9.20pm and he told me his colleague, Adam, was going down on behalf of him. They arrived at around 9.30pm and I quickly went down to fetch them up. It was a very fast viewing and I could sense that they were not very satisfied with the house. Then, Adam sent us back to block 204 and it was another fast viewing.

I was so shagged that I dozed off on the train on the way home.

Know What Have You Done?

The stains on my heart can never be erased. Because there is only one path at the door, I cannot escape recalling daily. Because the glass has been broken, I can never have a secure mind. I lose the confidence to proceed yet I can never return.

If you complain the weather changes too quickly, why don’t you recall what harms have you brought on? If you sing a song of a fallen leaf, don’t expect the trees to sashay in pride and proud.

Visiting Four Flats

I was supposed to go to the office to meet up with Kelly. I wanted to pass Winnie the Haig Road’s keys and get some commission letters from Regina and also some OTP forms from the HDB branch office. However, it was pouring in the morning and my plan to get a free ride on Kelly’s bike failed.

As I was leaving my house, Kelly called me regarding the valuation report for Haig Road. Suddenly I remembered my mum had recently collected a big envelope that was thought to be posted wrongly; she had asked my neighbours in case the sender had written wrong address which was somewhere close. I quickly went home to open that envelope and realised it was the $172.50 valuation report.

After crossing the road, I was quite stunned by a babe. She was walking along the roadside path and turned to the same direction as me. However, I did not slow down my pace for I was worried Mingfa would arrive anytime.

I met up with Mingfa at the Tanjong Pagar MRT station and we proceeded on to Bedok MRT in the crowded train. There were some delays caused by problems with the train before I boarded the train but we were on time. Whereas, Kelly was late as she was having some tough time at the office. Though I did not know what exactly she was doing, but I knew she had helped us with lots of stuffs so that we needed not go down to the office.

We went to the hawker centre and Meijun arrived to join us after completing the second interview for air hostess. A lady who shared the table when Mingfa left to find Meijun was enjoying her meal so much that I was quite tempted with her “zhu chang fen”. I was also worried that Meijun was not alone and it was might be a mistake to allow that lady to share the table but I was blessed.

I was craving for western food but the price smashed my idea and I decided to enjoy on a plate of nasi lemak for $2. Meijun ordered a $3 plate of rojak to share, which was a wrong choice. Some time after the stranger took her leave, another lady joined in without even asking for permission, which disgusted me for witnessing such an impolite Singaporean.

A recurrence of another unpleasant common problem since I last dined at the Bedok hawker centre pissed me off. A can collector was sitting on the next table, staring at us. I was sure that not all old people were forced to collect used cans due to financial problem and some were actually strong enough to find other jobs. But whatever the case, this staring was very irritating and uncivilised; it was not as if he was a waiter waiting to take any order. I was so observant that I told Mingfa immediately and since Meijun claimed that I was too loud, I purposely shouted, “You think people like to be stared while eating?”

Keys

We went to meet up with Kelly at the coffee shop under block 204. Then, we took the keys and went up to open the door the first time for a walk-up type of house. It was windy with its location just facing the main road, unblocked. Meijun’s presence somehow brought us luck like the previous Lorong Ah Soo Block 142, as the neighbour was eyeing this flat for her daughter and it seemed that we needed not even advertise for it if it was successful.

The next destination was block 102 at Avenue 1. I estimated it was a bit further than the distance from Tanjong Katong Road to Haig Road, which was walking distance to me. However, since it was raining and Meijun was tagging along, we decided to take bus 17 from interchange. Kelly took off in her bike and then we went to the interchange but Meijun had to wait for a person to get something, which delayed us. I was feeling bad for making Kelly wait alone.

Reservior?

Block 102 was quite alright. After some photo-taking, we rushed off again. We took bus 17 back to the interchange. We wanted to wash up at the coffee shop’s toilet but it was crowded and a man was sitting there to collect money, which was so rare. We crossed the road to MacDonald’s instead and later bought a cup of orange tea, which probably consisted of mandarin orange and green tea.

We took bus 25 from the interchange and the long journey began. Halfway, a lady left some coins on the seat opposite mine and a middle aged man took the seat, covered the coins with his hands. His hands kept still for quite some time before he secretly put them into his pouch. That was the pretence for some coins which was probably around thirty or fifty cents.

We dropped off before the interchange. Meijun did not seem very pleased after Mingfa woke her up and we went to a shop to look for her shoes wears. Kelly gave a few calls to my phone and I was feeling so guilty but could not do anything. After some long consideration, Meijun finally brought something and then the conclusion was that she would go down to Clementi ITE straight away instead of accompanying us to see the remaining two flats.

We rushed a cab over to meet up with the anxious Kelly. The cab driver was friendly but I felt so weird that he had to park his car at the slot instead of just dropping us down when we were already in front of the flat. At first I even thought he wanted to go up and view the house with us.

This flat at Ang Mo Kio was so impressively done. However, we could not figure out whether it was 4NG or 4A. Then, we proceeded to Bishan in a cab again. The rush was a disappointment and that I had to take the photos so fast. Mingfa was going to be late for volleyball while Kelly needed to cook for her family, whereas I was the only free one.

Mingfa and I walked to Bishan MRT after that and we went in our own ways. I tried to call Siuhang to meet up but he was not at home; there was no loss anyway since my socks were soaked with water and I should be removing it soon. Scenery was good on the train.

A Type of Friend

In our lives, we will meet different kinds of friends and there is this particular type which I’m quite amazed with.

He has the ability to outshine most people even though he has no great looks. He has the power to lead and the courage to take on challenges. He knows clearly what he wants and strives for it all the way quietly that each time everyone is surprised.

He states his need clearly; he knows too well what is good for him. He speaks up for whatever discontentment.

But in fact he is all about himself. He cares for friends who is right besides him but rarely when you are out of his sight. He is very self-thought but are you able to sense it?

Full Day Lorong Ah Soo

[Saturday, 06 January, 2007]

My younger brother did not switch on the air conditioner and I supposed he knew I could not sleep in the coldness. So this night, both of us shared the queen size bed. Usually my mum would sleep in the centre and since she was still at Genting with my elder brother, I had some knocks from my younger brother.

Sleeping at after three again, I could not wake up as early as planned. However, I still managed to get to Lorong Ah Soo in time. Along the journey, some people called me regarding the flat and I did not know Kelly had advertised for this day as well until she enlightened me at night. Therefore I was glad that no idiot had called me as early as nine in the morning like the previous day.

Kelly was there so early again. I passed by the Paya Lebar Methodist Girls’ School and there were so many girls waiting at the bus-stop, which was a great scenery. Then, I met up with Kelly at the void deck. The mamashop tender was watching “Chu Han Jiao Xiong” using a portable player and it kept me occupied while Kelly went to lead Mingen, Meijun and Mingfa the way.

The front and living room.

Master bedroom.

Kitchen.

Other two rooms.

We went up to the flat and that was my first visit. Then, I received more calls from people who were interested in the house and Mingfa claimed that I had improved in talking already. I guessed it was pretty easy to describe the house over and over again, but arranging of appointments was much tougher.

Kelly asked one of the direct buyers to judge my performance and she said that I had laughed too much. But it was not within my control yet to smile and laugh when I was talking to polite people. Mingfa, Mingen and Meijun left after a while.

For the whole day, I went to the opposite door often to play with the dog named Milo. My left hand was completely covered by his saliva.

There was actually a prank call from a person who claimed he was an agent called “Fazee” at the number “97105641”. He even dared to say that he was already buildings away but he did not turn up in the end. However, since we had appointments for the whole day, this asshole did not pose any problem to us.

We went to meet up with Mr Phua to show him a flat but there was some miscommunication. In the end, we showed the couple to block 129 again and they told us they wanted block 142 badly which was too slow. After that, we went to block 142 to meet up with Jenny, Linda and the buyer, Lynden and his family to sign the contract. On the way, I saw one very stylish and sexy girl waiting at the bus-stop with her mum. During the process, there was an agent who called to try to arrange viewing for block 129 but suddenly his clients chose to go shopping.

Jenny drove us back to block 129 and the last agent called me. He was Eddie and then we got to meet up. At first I thought he was as old as Francis but he seemed to be younger except with a bolder head. Both Kelly and I were quite suspicious of him for he had told me earlier not to talk to his clients about the commission. Anyway, I was very friendly to him but he seemed more like hypocrite. We exchanged our name cards and upon I turned back, he asked me for my name card again as he claimed that I did not give him mine. He dug through his collections and until he asked me for another one, suddenly he found it.

Eddie was crapping about my age and I was not sure if he was being sarcastic or just trying to entertain his buyer. Kelly was totally unpleased with him as she sat on the stone chair and facing another direction. Suddenly he asked me if I was lying about the JTC commission in order to earn extra money and finally Kelly opened her mouth to ask him call my company. His buyer’s big family arrived later and we went up. Then Eddie started to crap as if he knew a lot about JTC, which disgusted me so much for his earlier accusation. So, Kelly and I left him alone to show his buyers around. That was fun though it was totally opposite from my style.

After that, the show ended and Kelly rode home to get an extra helmet while I went over to block 106 to wait for her at the coffee shop where I saw the beer girl flirt with the uncles. Kelly took quite long time to join me and we went over to S11 for dinner.

After that, it was around 10pm already and she rode me home. It was probably the third time I sat on a bike but the first time on a bike which travelled over 90km/h. Anyway, I felt quite bad for she seemed to be sick and she actually stayed near Lorong Ah Soo.

Home Alone Two

[Friday, 05 January, 2007]

Alone in the early morning, I took cornflake for supper. I had a hard time blogging and at the same time, having some MSN chats. Ou Xiang and I were discussing about the planet’s health. I slept after 4am.

I was waked up by calls after 9am and I was actually all prepared for it. Kelly had advertised for the Lorong Ah Soo flat and since she placed my number at the front, everyone started calling me instead of Mingfa.

There were calls after calls but since I had not been to the actual flat before, there were problems answering the questions. There were some communications with Mingfa and Kelly and I began to get more confident with all the doubts being clarified.

Almost all the agents wanted to wait for the valuation to be out first before considering whether to accompany their clients down. Some of them were agents who eyed for higher money and that was why they rather wanted their buyers to lose the chance of getting an ideal home.

When Kelly received the valuation in late afternoon, I called all the agents to inform them and but none of them would want to schedule an appointment. When I called Angel, she was so friendly that we became friends and chatted for very long before adding each other into MSN.

Dinner was another bowl noodle.

Later at night, I only managed to arrange another appointment with an agent called Eddie who failed to pronounce his name properly and I heard it like Zinc for so many times. Anyway, he was preaching JTC and then he told me he would get back to me. Later, he said he would try to get 2% commission from his buyer and both Kelly and I found him fishy.

The first setback for the night was the editing of photos being terminated halfway with blue screen. The physical memory of the system seemed to run out after opening too many applications and all my half edited photos were gone.

My younger brother was back from camp at quite late hour and thus ended my home alone experience.

Home Alone

[Thursday, 04 January, 2007]

For the first day I was home alone, I woke up quite late as usual. I started checking and clearing email just like my normal daily routine but this time I aimed to pack up the house.

Chay Kuay Teow – my bunch.

I dragged on until around 3pm and I went downstairs to get my bunch. My mum had actually bought four bowls of instant noodle for me but I knew I should not feed myself on them all the time. By the time I got downstairs, the chicken rice stall which Bianhong’s mum worked in was already closing. I went to the market to search for food by myself for the first time in years. Eventually I bought a packet of chay kuay teow.

After the late meal, I decided to put the day into visible good use. However, there were too much things to do and it was quite impossible to turn the junk place into a cosy house within such short period that I was busy with the computer at the same time.

It started to pour. I tried to keep the clothes from the bamboos but realised some of the clothes were not dried yet. I packed the living room a little but the different part of mess distracted me and I realised I could not do everything. I cleared a portable table and closed it but there was no place to keep it. Then, I swept and washed the toilet’s floor which seemed to get dirty in days.

Packing of my own stuff took as long. When I began to sort out the documents for my work, I came across questions and consulted Kelly. I wasted quite a lengthy of her time. I began editing the photos taken during the chalet and at the same time, trying to finish blogging about it.

Bowl Noodle – my dinner

Into night time, I finally took out one of the bowl noodles but accidentally knocked it and spilled some of the ingredients. For the silly mistake, I wasted longer time to start my meal. After that, I continued with my computer work and forgotten about packing the house, whereby my work area was still in a mess.

There were sharp pains at the back of my head occasionally somehow.
